Chelsea Headcount After Villa Game

Having seen Joe Cole limp off the pitch against Villa yesterday and John Terry receiving treatment on the sidelines, Luiz Felipe Scolari has quickly moved to put Capello’s mind at ease by suggesting they should both be fit for England’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Joe Cole is reported to have suffered a minor foot injury following a heavy challenge from Petrov, whilst the Chelsea captain was seen pulling his shorts down on the sidelines receiving treatment for his ongoing back problems during yesterday’s 2-0 win at home.
On Cole, Scolari says “It’s a little problem in the foot. But I think two or three days with the national team and he should be in the condition to play.” Whilst on Terry he says “John Terry the same. Two or three days rest and with the national team doctors and he can play. He is a fantastic man. He wants to play.”
Unfortunately for Domenech though, the news on Anelka wasn’t quite so good. Following Anelka’s half-time departure from yesterday’s game, Scolari suggests “Nicolas Anelka, I don’t know if he will play in the national team for sure or not because he feels a little pain in his leg and maybe for the first game it is difficult to play.” However, he told the official Chelsea website “I think he has the possibility to play a minimum of one game.”
We didn’t come out of that one too badly then!
