Miami Dolphins: Ahmad Bradshaw Should Totally Take His Talents to South Beach

Carlos SandovalApr 11, 2011

As of right now, free agency is kind of a moot topic. Thanks to this silly lockout, no one can make a move, no players can negotiate and Tony Sparano and Chad Henne can't even go out to have a beer.

However, that doesn't mean we, here, at the Bleacher Report, can't speculate, right?

Well, let's speculate, because there are speculations to be had.

In a previous post, I had talked about the Dolphins needing an upgrade at running back, as opposed to the ever-popular answer of "quarterback" and "offensive line."

And, those who do realize that a running back is completely necessary feel that going after DeAngelo Williams is the safe choice, Mark Ingram would also be a risk worth taking.

Well, I, as a member of the bleeding gree--er, turquoise nation, refuse to believe that either running back is the best fit for the Dolphins.

Obviously, the best running back in this year's free agent class is Ahmad Bradshaw of the New York Giants. And that's who the Dolphins should go after, religiously.

Of course, the problem is not convincing the Dolphins' organization to pursue Bradshaw—they're willing to pursue anyone that's worth the money right now, which is always the best mindset for a championship team.

The problem would be convincing Bradshaw that his best chances of winning and becoming successful is in Miami.

That's tough to sell, especially since his current/former team recently won a Super Bowl title, and much of that same team is still (kind of) intact.

But things haven't been looking up for the Giants lately, with their last two seasons ending in...well, early January. They haven't gotten to the postseason the past couple of years, and there's a ton of question marks surrounding Eli Manning's future with the team.

And though the Dolphins haven't had a ton of success the past two years either, they have improved at a solid rate, even if they have had terrible offensive lapses.

Defensively, the Dolphins' unit kicks the Giants' unit's ass all day, with a friggin' plethora of youth, ranging from cornerbacks Sean Smith and Vontae Davis to defensive end Cameron Wake, to linebacker Karlos Dansby.

As for the quarterback? Well, I'll leave that little debate to y'all down in the comments, but basically, there, too, are question marks at that position.

And though people tend to take this following statement with the grain of salt, I'm sticking by it: The offensive line is beefy and talented, and that includes the players surrounding Jake Long.

Bradshaw is a quick runner who can also hit the hole with some damn conviction. Both Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown were both considered power runners (not so much now, though), and that's the reason both were so damn successful.

Bradshaw, with his talents, could single-handedly catapult the Dolphins into over-the-top status, alleviating Chad Henne, so we can see if the dude can seriously develop.

Either way, this acquisition is a long-shot. There's no way in hell Bradshaw would leave the Giants, but if he were smart, he'd reconsider.
