Big Ten Tenacity: Week Six Power Poll

Michael ClineOct 6, 2008

Is everyone still breathing?!

Six weeks are in the books, and things are shaping up rather nicely:

  • If you missed the Ohio State-Wisconsin matchup on Saturday night, drop and give me 20. It was a classic Big Ten powerhouse football game. I've never seen so many players getting helped off the field. When the dust settled, the Buckeyes outlasted the Badgers, 20-17.
  • Michigan State squeaked by Iowa in a close game in East Lansing. Iowa was on the attack, trailing, 16-13, with 2:16 left in regulation. On 4th-and-1, opting to go for the first down instead of kicking a tying field goal, Hawkeye running back Shonn Green was held just short of the line.
  • Minnesota showed off its passing efficiency, as quarterback Adam Weber threw for 274 yards. Thirteen of his 22 completed passes were to Eric Decker, who tied a school record with 190 yards. The Gophers beat Indiana, 16-7.
  • The Nittany Lions keep their record unbeaten traveling to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on the Boilermakers. Running Back Evan Royster had 194 yards of offense by himself as Penn State handled Purdue over the weekend, 20-6. As a side note, Purdue didn't record a single penalty. That's discipline!
  • And, finally, as one Juice goes to a "Big House," Illinois' Juice Williams goes to The Big House to put up 431 yards against the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan kept it close in the first half, but the Illini turned it up in the second half to finish with a 45-20 win.
  • Northwestern remains unbeaten, but didn't play anybody.
