Liverpool and AC Milan Set to Lock Horns for Newcastle's Jose Enrique

Liverpool are ready to lock horns with AC Milan as their search for a left back intensifies. One of the names that's coming through is of Newcastle defender Jose Enrique. 

According to the Sunday Mirror, Milan are ready to bring the impressive Spaniard to San Siro with the lure of Champions League football, but Liverpool is ready to "hijack" the deal for the 25 year old.  

Talksport initially reported that Liverpool are all set to complete a deal with Newcastle for the left back as Dalglish prepares to strengthen his squad for next season and one of the least secure positions seem to be at the back. 

Liverpool are pondering several options and are looking for a permanent fixture at left-back and are considerably thin in that department. Paul Konchesky's temporary departure from Anfield has left the club short on options and the signing of a left-back is one of the priorities next season. 

Kenny Dalglish has lately deployed Glen Johnson on the left but the Liverpool manager is looking for a long term solution rather than a temporary fix for next season as they prepare to battle their way back into Champions League reckoning.  

Celtic's Emilio Izaguirre and former Kop John Riise are also allegedly on Liverpool's radar. 

Liverpool might find itself in a tricky situation as they're also vying to sign FC Copenhagen's defender Oscar Wendt on a free transfer as are several other English Clubs including Newcastle.
