On Campus: Tennessee Volunteers
SD: Describe in one word game day at Neyland Stadium.
Adam McGee:Heaven.
Burch Hays:Crazy.
SD: Any traditions that Tennessee fans have before, during, or after games?
Adam McGee:The Vol Walk is a really great tradition. This is where the players and coaches walk all together through the crowd a couple hours prior to kickoff. It's so electrifying, because you give em all high fives, and you can just see the determination in their eyes as they get ready to face the challenge ahead. I'd say it's really cool for the kids too, because it gives them a bunch of really good guys to look up to!
Burch Hays:Well the chants and such..before the Florida game we usually have a Gator Hater party where we all grill gator tail (Walmart sells it that week here). Tailgating is always a huge deal.
SD: What is your greatest memory from a Tennessee home game?
Adam McGee:Just walking into that stadium for the first time, looking down on that field that I'd seen on TV so many times. It was remarkable. Watching the team running through the "T" that the band makes was just as much and adrenaline rush as I'd always imagined it would be, too! There's nothing like it in any other stadium.
SD: What game that you attended was the loudest?
Adam McGee:Honestly, I've only been to one game INSIDE Neyland stadium, and that was vs. Kentucky in 2006. It was loud, but from rumors I've heard the noise inside during a matchup against the Florida Gators... There is no comparison. Not to mention hearing "Rocky Top" being played by the band nearly 100 times per game...
Burch Hays:Well the citrus bowl was pretty loud. They all are especially bowl and SEC games.
SD: What player, since you have been going to games, has received the loudest cheers?
Adam McGee:Again, since I've only been to one game, I really couldn't say... But my best guess would obviously be Peyton Manning.
Burch Hays:Peyton(Manning).. definitely but this year and last it's Erik Berry.
SD: What makes Neyland Stadium the best stadium in college football?
Adam McGee:The Orange and White, the sound of "Rocky Top" reverberating through the city of Knoxville, and the loud roar of over 105,000 die-hard Tennessee Volunteer fans.
Burch Hays:A.Its size (one of the largest).
B. The fans
C. SO MUCH ORANGE!!
D. The bands
E. The shear number of people and how loud it is.
Neyland stadium when filled has more people than all but three cities in TN Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. That's a fact.
