College Football 2011: The 25 Most Expensive Tickets in the Country

Tom KinslowJun 7, 2018

College football 2011 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory, and there are some great matchups on the schedule.

Fans pack these stadiums every weekend and some will pay a ton of money to do it. With that in mind, we're finding out which games fans are willing to fork over the most cash to see. We went through multiple ticket vendors to try and find the highest tickets, ignoring suites and prices that might have been exorbitant for the caliber of the game.

If you have any thoughts or comments, leave them below. Which one of these games would you love to go to?

No. 25 (Tie): Florida State Vs. Boston College/ Notre Dame Vs. Wake Forest

ACC rivalries always bring out the best in people. With a team like Florida State, it's sure to get people in the seats.

Boston College is playing host to the Seminoles and people are clearly excited by the visit. They are willing to put the big bucks on the line for a chance to see their team pull an upset against one of the top programs in the nation.

About $648 should do the trick.

Tickets to see Notre Dame play are never cheap, especially when the Fighting Irish are heading to your town.

Wake Forest isn't a program that's had a ton of success recently, and having a team like Notre Dame, with how well the fans travel and what a recognizable name it is, has driven prices up for this game and makes it a bit pricey to get in.

If you want the best seat available, get ready to pay $648.

No. 23: Michigan Vs. Michigan State

2 of 25

There's nothing like a good in-state rivalry to stir up ticket prices.

Michigan and Michigan State is a fierce rivalry, with the two schools always fighting for supremacy on the gridiron and, more times than not, the Wolverines coming out on top. However, Michigan State is making strides as a program and fans are hoping for a win at home.

If you want to get a great view of it, it will cost you $659.

No. 22: Tennessee Vs. Alabama

The SEC has finally made an appearance on this list and it's for a clash of two of the bigger powers in the conference.

Alabama is one of the top teams in the nation, while Tennessee is a program that is trying to get back to the level it used to be at. With how good the Crimson Tide are, when they play top teams, it won't be easy to get in.

If you are looking to do it big at this game, get ready to pay $668.

It's not every day that a BCS buster comes to town.

Georgia is a program that's trying to get back to prominence and the Bulldogs were not afraid to take on Boise State to see if they can beat a good Broncos team. Kellen Moore and company are coming to town, and everyone wants to see this game.

If you want to be there and be right on top of the action, it's going to cost you $679.

Now we're into Big Ten country.

Penn State and Wisconsin are two of the biggest teams in the conference and they're going to clash in a big-time matchup. Any time the Badgers play host to a big team, you know the fans are going to pack it in.

If you want to be part of the madness, the most you'll have to pay is $700.

No. 19: Texas vs Texas A&M

In Texas, football is a religion.

It's really that simple, and when two teams from inside the state clash, it's a huge deal and bragging rights are on the line. The Longhorns had a bad year last season but are trying to rebound and will hit the road to take on Texas A&M.

The most you'll have to pay to be there is $703.

No. 18: Notre Dame Vs. Pittsburgh

7 of 25

SOUTH BEND, IN - NOVEMBER 13: Wide receiver Greg Lee #86 of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers is tackled by cornerback Preston Jackson #15 and linebacker Derek Curry #49 of the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish during the game on November 13, 2

Like I said before, Notre Dame is big business.

Just ask Pittsburgh, which will play host to the Fighting Irish, and when those two teams enter Heinz Field, you know that a ton of people are going to be there watching. If you want to be there and be one of the high-rollers in attendance, be prepared to go big.

About $706 will get you a really good seat.

No. 17: Alabama Vs. LSU

Alabama is back for the second time, and there's more than just football involved with this rivalry.

If you recall, Nick Saban used to coach the LSU Tigers before bolting for the NFL. Well, now Saban is with Alabama, and these two teams should both be in the hunt for an SEC championship when it's all said and done.

If you want to see how it all unfolds, it will cost you $737 for the best seat in the house.

No. 16: Alabama Vs. Florida

It didn't take long to see Alabama back on the list.

The SEC has some of the most passionate fans in all of college football, and it reflects in the price of the tickets for games like these. Alabama against Florida and new head coach Will Muschamp will be great college-football theater.

It won't be cheap theater, though, as the most expensive ticket will run you $791.

No. 15: Texas A&M Vs. Texas Tech

10 of 25
COLLEGE STATION, TX -SEPTEMBER 30: Quarterback Stephen McGee #7 of the Texas A&M Aggies at the line of scrimmage during the game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Kyle Field on September 30, 2006 in College Station, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/G

If this doesn't prove how big football is in the state of Texas, nothing will.

While the Texas A&M Aggies are a high-profile program, it's not like Texas Tech is exactly jumping off of the map when it comes to the college football landscape. Yet, here we are talking about how pricey the tickets can be.

If you want to pay $800, you can have a great view of the action.

No. 14: Penn State Vs. Ohio State

11 of 25
COLUMBUS, OH - NOVEMBER 13: Quarterback Terrelle Pryor #2 of the Ohio State Buckeyes runs with the ball against the Penn State Nittany Lions at Ohio Stadium on November 13, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)

Penn State is back on the list again (get used to them, just to warn you), and this time it's for a trip to Buckeye Country.

These two teams have had some great games over the years, and it's a rivalry that has been getting stronger and stronger. Fans from both teams always show up ready to cheer their teams on to victory.

If you're coming from Happy Valley and want to make sure your Penn State pride is seen by the world, it will cost you $850 for the best seat.

No. 13: Iowa Vs. Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, PA - SEPTEMBER 26: Daryll Clark #17 of the Penn State Nittnay Lions is tackled by Karl Klug #95 and Jeremiha Hunter #42 of the Iowa Hawkeye's on September 26, 2009 at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Gregory Shamus

I told you to get used to Penn State being on this list.

Let's just be honest; the Iowa Hawkeyes are the thorn in the side of the Nittany Lions. A couple of years ago, Iowa spoiled a bid for an undefeated season with an upset win, and the Hawkeyes haven't let up. Penn State fans get more fired up for this game every year, and it won't be cheap to be there this year, either.

How does $883 sound to you?

No. 12: Florida State Vs. Florida

13 of 25

We're back at it with the in-state rivalries with this matchup.

Florida and Florida State are two of the most popular programs in all of college football, and with the Seminoles on the rise and the Gators trying to work in a new coaching staff, it's going to be one heck of a battle.

If you're a fan of either team and want to see the game in a prime viewing area, it will cost you about $897.

No. 11: Oklahoma Vs. Texas

14 of 25
DALLAS - OCTOBER 02: Running back Demarco Murray #7 of the Oklahoma Sooners runs past D.J. Grant #18 of the Texas Longhorns in the third quarter at the Cotton Bowl on October 2, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

Now we're into some serious rivalries.

The Red River Rivalry is one of the best in college football. The game itself is an event almost unlike any other in sports. It's a great atmosphere, and if you want to be there in person, it won't be light on your wallet.

Get ready to fork over $919 for one of the best seats in the house.

No. 10: Florida Vs. LSU

GAINESVILLE, FL - OCTOBER 09: Punter Josh Jasper #30 of the Louisiana State University Tigers runs a fake punt for yardage past Ahmad Black #35 and Janoris Jenkins #1 of the Florida Gators during the game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on October 9, 2010 in

It has been a while since we had a good, healthy SEC rivalry on the list.

Florida will always be a big ticket, even if the program isn't at the heights it was at just a couple of years ago. Throw in the fact that LSU could contend for a national championship this season, and you've got the recipe for a hot ticket.

It's so hot that it will cost you $937 for a great seat.

No. 9: Oregon Vs. Oregon State

16 of 25

CORVALLIS, OR - DECEMBER 4: Talmadge Jackson III #37 of the Oregon Ducks runs back an interception as Kenny Rowe #58 of the Oregon Ducks blocks quarterback Ryan Katz #12 of the Oregon State Beavers in the second quarter the game at Reser Stadium on Decemb

The Civil War is a great rivalry, and with Oregon's trip to the national championship game, it's been kicked up a notch.

Oregon looks to be a strong contender yet again for the championship. With that in mind, the demand for this game is a bit high to say the least. If you're a fan of the Ducks or the Beavers, it's going to cost a pretty penny for the best seat.

About $938 will get you a great view of this game.

No. 8: Notre Dame Vs. Michigan

There's nothing like a matchup of two of the best programs in college football history.

When those two programs are Notre Dame and Michigan, the prices go through the roof. Being in the Big House for a huge game always gets the crowd fired up and sends people in droves to one of the most iconic stadiums in the nation.

If you want to fork over $945 for a great seat, be my guest.

No. 7: Auburn Vs. Georgia

18 of 25
AUBURN, AL - NOVEMBER 13: Craig Sanders #13 and Darvin Adams #89 of the Auburn Tigers against Brandon Boykin #2 of the Georgia Bulldogs at Jordan-Hare Stadium on November 13, 2010 in Auburn, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

When the defending national champions come to town, ticket prices are bound to be insane.

Georgia is a program that looks to be rising, and Auburn is trying to move on from Cam Newton but is still a very talented group. Throw in the SEC and all of the tradition and rivalry there, and you have one monster of a game.

About $980 will get you into a great seat at the game in Athens, Georgia.

No. 7: Ohio State Vs. Nebraska

The new-look Big Ten has created plenty of great matchups, but few are better than this one.

Ohio State and Nebraska are two of the biggest powers in college football, and some great talent is going to be on display in this game. The Cornhusker fans out there will get to see a great matchup, and that should help the transition from the Big 12.

If you want the best seat available, get ready to pay $992

Ohio State and Michigan is one of the biggest rivalries in college football, and there aren't many games like it.

These two teams hate each other. This game can make or break a season, and both teams always put it all on the line to try and get a win over the other. It's all about bragging rights, and the fans take it as seriously as the players.

If you want to be at this great game, $994 will get you an amazing view.

No. 5: Alabama Vs. Auburn

TUSCALOOSA, AL - NOVEMBER 26: Julio Jones #8 of the Alabama Crimson Tide is tackled by Neiko Thorpe #15 and Eltoro Freeman #21 of the Auburn Tigers at Bryant-Denny Stadium on November 26, 2010 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

Last year's Iron Bowl was a classic of a game.

The rivalry between these two programs is at a fever pitch with a matchup between the past two national champions. It's going to be a great game between two talented teams. With all of the bad blood, there's a high demand for this game.

Around $1,087 will get you into that amazing atmosphere and a great seat.

No. 4: Oklahoma Vs. Oklahoma State

22 of 25

We're continuing the theme of rivalries with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

These two teams aren't fond of each other. In that region of the country, these games mean everything to the fans of these teams and they determine standing in the state of Oklahoma. The Sooners are one of the top teams in the country, and the Cowboys are a program that has a lot of potential next year.

Around $1,188 will get you a ticket for a great seat for this heated rivalry.

No. 3: Michigan Vs. Nebraska

SAN ANTONIO - DECEMBER 28: Running back Mike Hart #20 of the Michigan Wolverines carries the ball against the Nebraska Cornhuskers during the MasterCard Alamo Bowl on December 28, 2005 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Huskers won 32-28. (Pho

Nebraska has joined the Big Ten and these matchups have created hot tickets.

Throw in a program like Michigan and these games have even more importance for these teams and the fans involved. These are two great fanbases, and they're going to descend on this game and pay top dollar for the seats.

Speaking of top dollar, $1,244 will get you an incredible seat.

No. 2: Penn State Vs. Alabama

We saw this matchup last year, but now it's time to head to Beaver Stadium.

Happy Valley is one of the best atmospheres in all of college football. When you have two powerhouses squaring off, it's going to be an intense atmosphere. Throw in the best student section in the country and a White Out, and you can see why people want to be there.

If you really want to be there and remember it forever, $1,400 will ensure that.

Nebraska is going to be welcomed to the Big Ten Happy Valley-style, and it's going to be one of the biggest games of the year.

Beaver Stadium is going to be rocking when the Cornhuskers walk on to the field, and with the way both of these fanbases are, it's no shock that the prices for this game are as high as maybe they've ever been for a game at Penn State.

How does $1,648 for a prime seat sound to you?
