College Football Pick'em: The Ten Best Games of Week 5

Jason EllisSep 26, 2008

Welcome to another exciting rendition of College Football Pick’em:  The Ten Best Games of the Week.  This is week five of an already exciting season.

Last week was my best week so far, going 8-2.  It’s nice to save a little face after going 5-5 the previous week.  That brings the season record to a very respectable 28-12.  So without further blah, blah from me, here are your ten best games of week five:

*Game of the Week*

Ohio State Team Doctor
2026 Florida Spring Football Game
College Football Playoff National Championship: Head Coaches News Conference

No. 7 Alabama at No. 2 Georgia:  Winner: Georgia, 27-21.  A Southeastern Conference battle is always a great game, especially when both teams are ranked in the Top Ten.  The Tide are for real this season, but the Bulldogs are the team that will be rolling on undefeated.  This will be your typical SEC slugfest.

Tennessee at No. 14 Auburn:  Winner: Auburn, 24-7.  Both teams are looking for their offense.  The Tigers are made to look like an offensive powerhouse by the inept Volunteers.

No. 23 Illinois at No. 10 Penn State:  Winner: Penn State, 30-24.  The fighting JoPa’s keep their undefeated season rolling into Big Ten play.  Big win here catapults Penn State to the top of the conference.

Colorado at Florida State:  Winner: Colorado, 17-10.  The Buffs keep the momentum going from their big win in their last game.  FSU isn’t quite back yet.

Navy at No. 16 Wake Forest:  Winner: Wake Forest, 24-17.  The ground game of Navy keeps this close, only because they keep the Wake offense off the field for extended periods of time.

No. 9 Wisconsin at Michigan:  Winner: Wisconsin, 30-10.  The Badgers dominate this one from the outset.  Expect a ton of yards on the ground from Wisconsin.

No. 22 Texas Christian at No. 3 Oklahoma:  Winner: Oklahoma, 35-17.  This will be the Sooners' toughest test of the non-conference season.  They pass with flying colors.  Look for Sam Bradford to push 400 yards through the air.

Arkansas at No. 8 Texas:  Winner: Texas, 45-10.  The beating the Razorbacks took last week continues this week in Austin.  Colt McCoy puts it on them.  You have to feel kind of sorry for Arkansas, because this two-game stretch equates to getting punished by your mom and then getting it again when your dad gets home from work.  Anyone want bacon?

No. 13 South Florida at NC State:  Winner: South Florida, 30-17.  The Wolf Pack looked good in a win last week.  The only thing is South Florida is a better team than East Caroling.  The Bulls take this one going away.

Purdue at Notre Dame:  Winner: Purdue, 21-17.  The Irish will put up a few points in this game, but it will not be enough.  Purdue scores late to take this game.

There you have it: your ten best games.  Grab your favorite beverage and get ready to enjoy another exciting week in the realm of college football.
