Oh, and there was one more minor deal that went down:
Knicks get:
Corey Brewer
Warriors get:
Eddy Curry (expiring contract)
Anthony Randolph
$3 million in cash
So, with that....let's get on with it.
15. Knicks Struggle Early On
2 of 16
Well, this is as obvious as it gets.
Much like the Heat (who are going to come up multiple times in this piece), the Knicks are going to have some trouble truly coming together as a team.
Again, like I said, this is pretty much common sense, but just throwing that out there.
14. They Take Longer Time To Mold Than Heat
3 of 16
The Heat weren't exactly quick to come together, but it did not take them long to figure things out. This is going to be different.
This is a huge change in the lineup and it effects the entire look and style of the team.
Eventually things will take on some form of cohesiveness, but...
13. They Show Few Signs Of "Team" Play
4 of 16
It is my opinion that they will not figure out what to do before the season ends.
Now, they will have a game plan, but as a team they will find it hard to gel when they have to dominant scorers on their team.
Also, these are not the LeBron James and Dwyane Wade type of scorers; as they are not great passers. Of course, that is assuming that they choose to pass at all.
They will need to share the rock in order to be successful, but like I said, they are not like Wade or LeBron in the least.
Surely you must be wondering if that will ever change, well...
12. Melo and Stoudemire Do Not Learn To Share The Wealth
5 of 16
No, it does not change, and they both remain selfish players.
They will take turns doing their best to take over games, but at the end of the day, they will not find a way to share the ball with their awaiting teammates.
This is just what happens when a team ventures to put two big time point machines on the same team. In turn, this will have its own terrible effect of...
11. Chemistry Problems Surface
6 of 16
Guess who is in for a sequel of Shaq and Kobe!
That's right, the city of New York is about to experience this first hand and learn to grow and understand why teams that look amazing on paper often crumble.
It will be a tough end of the season and an even tougher playoffs. Wait...wait, getting a little ahead of myself on the slides.
Melo and Stat will definitely have tension between them; they will need a hero to come in and save the day.
10. Billups Holds Team Together
7 of 16
It's Super Chauncey!
Okay, that joke was lame, but nonetheless, it will be Spider-Billups who will save the day in Liberty City.
Billups is a veteran who has won before and he will manage to have the ball in his hands most of the time to make sure the right play is executed.
I expect him to average career highs in assists and put up some nice points as well.
9. Denver Misses Playoffs
8 of 16
Oh, wait there was another team involved in this whole deal.
Yeah, the Denver Nuggets, and let's get their intro into the article off on a cheerful note of a terrible second half and missing the playoffs.
I am not going to get into my actual opinion of this team in the long run because that will come later, but this season they will miss the playoffs and allow for my Suns to just barely squeeze in there.
No, I'm not a homer! I am just another unbiased fan.
P.S.: Do you know of anyone who can say that last bit with a straight face?
8. New York Jumps to Fifth Seed
9 of 16
As of now, the Knicks are sitting behind the sparrows...I mean Hawks as their only competition for the fifth spot in the playoffs.
Based on the schedule that Atlanta has to deal with, it is my opinion that they will fall to the sixth spot and the Knicks will sneak right by them.
They will do that in part to their amazing offense, but in a larger sense because of...
P.S.: Am I not the most amazing segway creator in the history of journalism?
7. Knicks Play Better Defense Than Expected
10 of 16
Defense with Amar'e and Melo? Yeah, I know, stop laughing.
I think that the Knicks will find a way to organize some form of strange abomination of a defense that will actually sort of work for them.
Granted it will take many days in a row for Coach Mike to actually learn the meaning of the word, but it will happen; the Nostradamus in me demands it.
This will be key in them hoping for a deep playoff run, but will it happen?
6. Orlando Defeats The Knicks In The First Round
11 of 16
Orlando will stay where they are in the standings, but that does not take away from the fact that they are still one of the best teams in the league and will look to win come the postseason.
They will be matched up against the Knicks, and they will defeat them in a matter of five-to-six games.
The Knicks simply cannot stop Dwight or the weapons around him; Howard will look to put up one of the best postseasons in recent memory in terms of stats.
5. Knicks Stay In The Shadow Of The Heat Dynasty
12 of 16
This is a biggie.
The biggest thing wrong with this whole trade is the timing of it. The Knicks are looking to make their run(s) in a time when the Miami Heat will be one of the greatest teams ever assembled and performing like one.
Miami will be demolishing their competition and no matter what the Knicks do, they will always sit behind them in history.
Much like the Utah Jazz did in the days of MJ, which is definitely funny considering the roster of South Beach.
4. Deal Proves To Be a Failure To The Empire
13 of 16
Looks like the Empire will crumble, much like the one is Star Wars (weren't they the bad ones)?
With the lack of rings and underachieving seasons, this trade will prove to be one of the worst moves in New York history, at least from a fan's perspective.
This is not only due to the trade itself, but like I said earlier; the Heat is on.
3. Nuggets Prove To Be The Real Winner
14 of 16
The Nuggets are getting some very solid young players, and next season (if there is a season), they will be very solid.
They have a better team than they did with Melo, but they are not going to be able to take advantage of it until later on.
Most of the players on the roster are used to having a dominant scorer present whether it be Melo or Amar'e and they will need time to adjust, it's only human.
2. Nuggets Take Advantage Of The Aging West With a Young Squad
15 of 16
This will happen next season and in the coming years.
The best teams in the West are only days away from joining the senior league and maybe even becoming Golf squads.
The Nuggets enter in as a young, fast and strong group of players who are hungry. That is as wrong a combination for the rest of the West as ice cream and ketchup.
It simply won't be good to the taste, or to pretty much any other sense. Maybe, just maybe the Nuggets can get the first-seed next season, but more likely they will ban second or third.
I said bold predictions baby, can you handle it!
1. Nuggets First Of The Two To Win a Championship
16 of 16
This is the big one, and the one that will measure the success of everything here.
While the Heat have the Rings locked down for the next five-to-six years, maybe more, the Nuggets will be right there waiting.
The Knicks will fade away in the East behind the Red Giants while the Nuggets will dominate in a league of retirees.
Simply put, the Nuggets will be laughing all the way to the Grand Parade that waits in Denver some time in the next decade or so.
Well that's all she wrote folks!
