ACC Power Rankings After Week Four: Georgia Tech Up, Florida State Down

The ACC and SEC BlogSep 25, 2008

The ACC had a great weekend, winning three big out of conference games over the SEC, Big 12, and previously unbeaten East Carolina out of Conference USA.

Wake Forest still tops my rankings with big movers in Georgia Tech and NC State. I base these rankings on how these teams would fare against each other on a "neutral field."

1. Wake Forest

The Deacs have won three straight over FSU and can win in a variety of ways, a testament to the ability of head coach Jim Grobe.

2. Virginia Tech

The Hokies stay at No. 2 after a big road win at North Carolina, giving them a firm hold on the Coastal.

3. Clemson

4. Georgia Tech

The Yellow Jackets offense finally clicked, and that meant 438 yards rushing against what was thought to be one of the best defenses in the SEC.

5. North Carolina

I still like the Heels this season. They play a very important road game at Miami this week.

6. Miami

The 'Canes are definitely showing improvement in year two under Randy Shannon and still have a shot to match my prediction for second in the Coastal.

7. Boston College

8. Maryland

9. NC State

What a big win for Tom O'Brien and NC State. Now if they can just keep this momentum going.

10. Florida State

A huge drop for the Seminoles this week. I will say that 7-10 right now in the ACC is very close and could see big movement next week.

11. Duke

12. Virginia
