Arsenal: Wenger Says Jack Wilshere To Be Just Like Scholes
There has been a lot of hype heaped on “Young Gun” Jack Wilshere recently. Many comparisons have been drawn to players like Makelele and teammate Cesc Fabregas.
Now Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has found a new comparison to draw. Arsene Wenger says the young midfielder reminds him of Manchester United’s Paul Scholes. I think that this is an apt comparison.
“He has the side of players like Scholes. He can fight and play,” said the manager. Wilshere has grown tremendously into his role in midfield this season. He seems to be getting better with his technique and tackling from week to week.

At the beginning of the season, Jack appeared to be a little rough around the edges, especially in his tackling. As he gained experience in Arsenal’s starting XI his decision-making, touch and tackling improved.
He has developed great partnerships with Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song on both the offensive and defensive fronts. He can very truly be called a box-to-box midfielder.
Wenger continues to praise Wilshere saying, “Jack has what you want from a midfielder, both parts of it. He is good in the defensive box and good in the offensive box. We are used to players being only strong on one side more than the other. He can have both. More than aggression, I would say commitment. Aggression is something negative. He has a committed attitude and he needs to keep that.”
Wilshere’s committed attitude is readily apparent on the pitch. Jack has shown tough mental character that if he keeps will surely aid him in becoming a world class midfielder.
What do you think of this comparison? Do you think that Jack can be for Arsenal what Scholes is for United?
