Jose Mourinho: Portuguese Tactician Says He Will Not Leave Real Madrid

Mike GoncalvesFeb 19, 2011

Jose Mourinho has been in a love-hate situation since arriving at the Bernabeu Stadium this past summer. Even before having coached his first match with Real Madrid, all fans already expected Real to challenge and win pretty much anything they could.

Although the season is just barely over the halfway mark, it is still possible for Mourinho to lead his men to success in all competitions.

Real will face Barcelona in the final of the Copa Del Rey in the coming month. Barcelona is only five points clear in first place and face Lyon for the first elimination round of the Champions League.

Mourinho has had some "issues" with Real Madrid General Manager, Jorge Valdano recently. Valdano was unhappy with the lack of playing time for Karim Benzema.

What seems to bother Valdano was the fact that Mourinho barely used Benzema, but still questioned Real's fire power in the striker position.

Since that disagreement, Mourinho had come out publicly and stated that he would like to return to England to coach in the Premier League.

In the January transfer window, Real Madrid brought in Togo International, Emmanuel Adebayor. Now, Mourinho surely feels he has the options in his strike force.

"If they don't sack me then I will stay. When I signed for four years, I did it with the intention to respect my contract. When you leave a team like Inter for Real Madrid, you don't do it for one year. I want to stay, and if we are all united in belief for this project then it's obvious I will stay," said Mourinho in an interview with Radio Cope.

If Jose Mourinho is unable to bring a title to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium this season, will he be sacked? I would imagine that he would continue at Real Madrid, regardless of not bringing any silverware, but surely the pressure from the higher-ups will increase.

It’s not like Jose isn’t used to the pressure.

If Real fail to win any titles, and an interesting offer from an English Premier League team presents itself, will Mourinho think twice about staying at the Bernabeu?
