College Football Predictions: 11 Locks to Win 11 Games Next Season
College football is starting to hit a dry spell after National Signing Day has come and gone.
We saw a ton of top high school prospects sign with some of the biggest programs in football.
Now, we speculate for the 2011 season.
Which teams are destined to be in the top 10 of the top 25 schools in the nation?
Which teams will be eying a BCS National Championship?
Without Cam Newton and Nick Fairley, can the Auburn Tigers repeat as National Champions?
Is Auburn even a lock to win 11 games next season with their two superstars in the NFL!?
Is Oregon heading back to the BCS Championship game behind LaMichael James?
Which 2011 Heisman hopefuls will have their teams locks to stand atop the BCS Rankings?
From Oregon to TCU to Oklahoma, here are 11 locks to win 11 games in 2011.
11. UCF Knights
1 of 11
Have you seen this conference? Conference USA is awful. The Knights made great strides last season, dominating the conference with a 7-1 record. Expect the Knights to go undefeated as they stay in the top 25.
They finally won a bowl game, defeating a good Georgia team.
The Knights are finally coming around and will show consistency instead of faltering in 2011.
The Knights will lean on running back Latavius Murray, who did a great job against the Georgia Bulldogs to culminate the season.
10. Michigan State Spartans
2 of 11
The Spartans were a surprise team last year. Now, they’ll be on everyone’s radar.
That’s fine.
Despite the loss of linebacker Greg Jones, Mark Dantonio will have these Spartans ready for battle each and every week.
This is one of the most complete teams in college football. I expect them to be a top 10 mainstay and win 11 games once again.
9. LSU Tigers
3 of 11
Les Miles is building a Championship program once again.
Unfortunately for these Tigers, I don’t think it’ll be this year.
That doesn’t mean this team won’t be one of the top teams of the 2011 season.
LSU may be in the tough SEC, but I expect Auburn to fall.
LSU seems to always counter its loss of talent to the NFL with the next great stars.
LSU has enough players returning and ready to insert into the starting lineup to stay on the right track. There are a bunch of young players who are going to be getting their shot to start in 2011 and they're going to be hyped to show their stuff.
Miles is a fantastic motivator and one of the top coaches in college. He’ll have these Tigers’ claws sharpened each week of the long season.
8. Oklahoma State Cowboys
4 of 11
The Cowboys boast arguably the top quarterback-wide receiver tandem in the nation in Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon.
These two are set to skyrocket to the top of college football, the rest of the Cowboys are just along for the ride.
Watch these two explode each and every week. The dominance these two will display is going to be epic.
I love the Cowboys’ outlook for 2011 and fully expect them to win 11 games once again, perhaps challenging Oklahoma for the top spot.
7. Ohio State Buckeyes
5 of 11
So Terrelle Pryor and Dan Herron are suspended for five games to start the season. I think it might be reduced, but that's for another time.
Jim Tressel laughs in the face of this adversity.
Tressel is one of the top coaches in college football of this decade.
He’s not worried. Trust me.
The Buckeyes will roll from the get-go.
Watch Ohio State jump back to the top of the Big Ten.
Even when Ohio State stumbles a bit like they did last season, they still always end up back towards the top of the BCS Rankings.
That's because Tressel knows his team. He always seems to have his squad in the right position.
Watch for Pryor and Herron to return to an already stable Ohio State team and continue to keep the ball rolling along the right, dominant path.
The offensive line will keep the offense solid until Pryor and Herron return from suspension, both with a ton of pent up energy ready to exert on opposing defenses.
6. Florida State Seminoles
6 of 11
So Christian Ponder is no longer a Seminole.
No problem.
Quarterback E.J. Manuel is the new quarterback star in college football.
He’s all set to dominate college football.
Is he 2011’s Cam Newton?
You bet.
He’s going to help the Seminoles win at least 11 games and stay atop the solid Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
5. Alabama Crimson Tide
7 of 11
The Tide stumbled following their BCS Win in 2009-2010.
Nick Saban will have them dominating once again, good enough for my No. 3 overall team.
Trent Richardson will explode in 2010 and fight Oregon’s LaMichael James for No. 1 overall back in college.
I’m not worried at all about the loss of Greg McElroy, he wasn’t anything special in my eyes.
Saban will have this team ready to control the nation despite having to play in the SEC.
4. Oklahoma Sooners
8 of 11
My No. 2 overall team in the nation.
Ryan Broyles stuck around to prove he’s the best wide receiver in the nation.
Landry Jones is smiling about that.
This team is stacked and could very well go undefeated, losing one game at the most.
These Sooners are gunning for the BCS Championship and will be there soon.
3. Boise State Broncos
9 of 11
You need to know two things about these Broncos to understand they’re a lock to win 11 games in 2011:
1. They play in the Western Athletic Conference.
This conference is terrible. Nevada made great strides last year, but its star quarterback Colin Kaepernick is heading to the NFL.
Sorry, Nevada, no more No. 1 for you.
2. Kellen Moore.
Kellen Moore is back again to make a run at the Heisman trophy. Moore puts up video game-like numbers with elite efficiency.
The Broncos offense will be dominate again next season.
2. TCU Horned Frogs
10 of 11
The Horned Frogs could very well go undefeated once again. I mean, they’re in the Mountain West Conference, after all. That’s all you need to know. Even if they don’t go undefeated, the Horned Frogs will easily win 11 games.
Andy Dalton may not be around anymore, but TCU will have no problem filling the void.
Even if TCU goes undefeated for the third straight season, do not expect them to be in the BCS National Championship.
1. Oregon Ducks
11 of 11
The Ducks still have the best offense in the game.
LaMichael James may just be the Heisman winner next season after he leads the nation in rushing touchdowns.
The Oregon offense has too much fire power.
Although Casey Matthews will be in the NFL, the defense still has enough playmakers, providing the Ducks' offense more than enough opportunities to run up the score each week.
The Ducks are my lock for No. 1 next year.
