
Miami Hurricane Football 2011 Schedule: Game-By-Game Breakdown
While the 2011 season is still 8 months away, there are certain topics that are a hot commodity.
The first happened just a couple weeks ago with the start of the the signing of the letter of intents. While Miami didn't have the strongest class, they had a solid one.
Now comes the next important thing and that is the release of the 2011 football season and Miami once again has a solid out of conference schedule, compared to other Division 1 schools.
So here is a breakdown of the dates and teams for the upcoming 2011 season.
Maryland Terrapins (ACC)

Time: 8:00 pm EST, To be televised on ESPN.
Opponent's 2010 record: 9-4 (5-3 in the ACC), Beat ECU in the Military Bowl 51-20.
Noteworthy: Miami starts the season off with an in conference bowl game against the Terps. Miami beat Maryland at home last year 26-20. Last season's head coach, Randy Shannon has been offered the Defensive Coordinator job at Maryland, thus making this game mean much more if he accepts.
Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten)

Opponent's 2010 record: 12-1, Beat #8 Arkansas 31-26 in the Sugar Bowl. Finished the season as the #5 team in the country.
Noteworthy: This is the second time in two years the Hurricanes and Buckeyes will play each other. Last year Jacory Harris threw four interceptions as the Buckeyes beat Miami in Ohio, 36-24.
Ohio State will be without starting quarterback, Terrelle Pryor as he and four others are suspended for the first five games of the season.
Kansas State Wildcats (Big 12)

Opponent's 2010 record: 7-6, Lost inaugural Pinstripe Bowl against Syracuse, 34-36.
Noteworthy: This is the first game against the two teams, next year the Hurricanes play in Kansas.
Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (MEAC)

Opponent's 2010 record: 10-2 (7-1 in the MEAC) Shared MEAC Championship with Florida A&M. Members of the Division 1-AA league.
Noteworthy: This is the first time the Hurricanes and the Wildcats face each, although Bethune-Cookman is located in Daytona Beach,FL.
Virginia Tech Hokies (ACC)

Opponent's 2010 record: 11-3 (8-0 in the ACC), Lost to #4 Stanford in the Orange Bowl, 40-12.
Noteworthy: Last year Miami lost to the Hokies, 31-17. Virginia Tech won the ACC Championship and finished a perfect, 8-0.
North Carolin Tar Heels (ACC)

Opponent's 2010 record: 8-5 (4-4 in the ACC), Beat Tennessee 30-27 in the Music City Bowl.
Noteworthy: Last year Miami beat the Tar Heels 33-10, marking just the first time in the previous four tries that the Hurricanes had won.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (ACC)

Opponent's 2010 record: 6-7 (4-4 in the ACC), Lost to Air Force 14-7 in the Independence Bowl.
Noteworthy: Miami beat the Georgia Tech last year 35-10. Yellow Jackets starting quarterback, Joshua Nesbitt, did not play due to an injury.
This was the last game Miami would win all year as they closed out the 2010 with a three game losing streak,.
Virginia Cavaliers (ACC)

Time: 8:00 pm. Thursday night game to be televised on ESPN.
Opponent's 2010 record: 4-8 (1-7 in the ACC)
Noteworthy: This was the disheartening loss of the year last year for Miami. Jacory Harris was knocked out of the game and came in Freshman, Stephen Morris.
Morris came into the game and almost brought the Hurricanes back, as Miami scored 19 points in the 4th quarter.
It was the only conference game the Cavaliers won all year last year.
Duke Blue Devils (ACC)

Opponent's 2010 record: 3-9 (1-7in the ACC)
Noteworthy: The Hurricanes beat the Blue Devils last year, 28-13. The win was less than stellar, but the Miami defense created seven turnovers.
Florida State Seminoles (ACC)

Opponent's 2010 record: 10-4 (6-2 in the ACC), Beat #20 South Carolina, 26-17 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Noteworthy: Miami got slapped all over the field in a 17-45 loss at home against the Seminoles. Miami gave up 471 yards of total offense to the Seminoles.
Florida State is 4-2 in the last six games against the Hurricanes.
South Florida Bulls (Big East)

Opponent's 2010 record: 8-5 (3-4in the Big East), Beat Clemson 31-26 in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.
Noteworthy: Miami ended the regular season last year with a 23-20 overtime loss against the Bulls of South Florida.
Miami held the Bulls to under 300 total yards, but could not overcome the three turnovers they had.
After this game, Miami fired coach Shannon, after a 7-5 season.
Boston College Eagles (ACC)

Time: TBA
Opponent's 2010 record: 7-6 (4-4 in the ACC), Lost to #15 Nevada, 20-13 in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.
Noteworthy: This is the first game between the Canes and the Eagles since the 2007 season in which Boston College beat Miami, 28-14. It marked the first time the Eagles have beaten the Hurricanes since 1984.
That 2007 season also was the first time the Hurricanes didn't qualify for a bowl game since 1997.
