Philadelphia Eagles Offseason: Hey, Hey, Hey! Is Albert Haynesworth It?
In case you haven't read, Albert Haynesworth has been accused of assault in an apparent road rage incident in Fairfax, VA. This isn't Albert's first run-in with the law. In 2006, Big Al had several charges dropped on technicalities in Tennessee for another traffic incident. In 2009, a driver was partially paralyzed after colliding with Haynesworth's Ferrari that Albert was driving at over 100 mph.
Outside of criminal court, Haynesworth has found ways to keep his lawyers happy by being sued by Clayton Bank and Trust for non-payment of a $2.4 million loan. And of course, last year Albert got the news that he may be a father. Stripper Silvia Mena is suing ol' Al for $10 million for fathering a child and bolting.

And, let's not forget "The Stomp." In 2006, Haynesworth committed one of the most brutal acts ever seen on a football field. Haynesworth removed the helmet of center Andre Gurode while Gurode was laying on the turf. Then Albert, not once (he missed), but twice stomped Gurode right in the face. Gurode received 30 stitches above and below his right eye and Haynesworth received a five-game suspension.
So Eagles Fans, it's time to decide. Is the Haynesworth soap opera worth it? We all saw what happened in Washington. He not only had a personal disaster of a season, but he was a continued distraction for his team. Were his trouble's last season all his doing? No, of course not. Shanahan had some responsibility for that disaster, but does what happened make you feel any better about acquiring him?
Rumor has it that Big Al wants to follow Jim Washburn to Philly. Would we get the Pro Bowl player from Tennessee or the diva from Washington?
Finally, let's consider a few other things. The Eagles have been hesitant to look at players over 30. And if they are willing to go out and get him, what will Washington want in return? Gut instinct says they'll want very little, and if they cut him, even better.
A contract restructuring would be in order here. Low guaranteed money with high potential bonuses based on his play and staying out of trouble off the field would be a great way for the Eagles to bring in a potential high-impact player and give Albert a good way to get rehabilitate his career.
