Florida State Football Recruiting: Jimbo Fisher Has Jumbo 2011 Results

Kyle BuntonJun 7, 2018

The new era of Seminole football started last year with a 10-4 record and a bowl win, and it is in full force still with many 2011 recruits heading to Tallahassee, Florida.

The 'Noles have added one 5-star recruit to the mix, and have done a great job attracting 4-star recruits, with 15 coming to play for FSU.

Who are the top five recruits out of this class? Let's find out.

S Karlos Williams from Davenport, Florida

1 of 5

S Karlos Williams, at 6'2" and 210 pounds, is the lone 5-star recruit in this year's class for FSU. He is also the No. 1 ranked safety.

He is only a junior, but Williams is already raising eyebrows. He looks the part and plays the part as well. Williams has the size of a linebacker and the speed of a safety. He is being compared to Adrian Wilson from the Arizona Cardinals, who is known for his good coverage and excellent tackling ability.

Williams will need to work on his ability to cover slot receivers, because he is a bit straight-lined. But overall, his potential is through the roof.

Here are his highlights.

TE Nick O'Leary from Palm Beach, Florida

2 of 5

TE Nick O'Leary, at 6'4" and 230 pounds, is a 4-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 2 tight end in the ESPNU 150.

In 2008, he caught 27 passes for 522 yards (19.3 average) and six touchdowns. He is also the grandson of golfing legend Jack Nicklaus.

He brings an all-around game to the tight end position not seen very often; O'Leary can block and also be an effective receiver for his quarterback. He will get a lot of buzz mainly for who his grandfather is, but O'Leary has some talent to silence any critics. He does need to work on his footwork, because he tends to get top heavy when he is blocking. O'Leary has good enough speed to stretch the field, either as a wide receiver or tight end. He also has very reliable hands.

Here are his highlights.

OT Bobby Hart from Fort Lauderdale, Florida

3 of 5

OT Bobby Hart, 6'5" and 298 pounds, is a 4-star recruit and is ranked No. 4 at his position in the ESPNU 150.

When Hart is engaged during run blocking, his man usually ends up on the ground. He is a very good run blocker, but needs to put on some weight to be considered a serious threat at tackle. Hart is naturally a run blocker, but shows very good technique as a pass blocker also. Hart has great length to keep defenders engaged at all times, while pushing them away from the running back or quarterback with his excellent technique.

ATH Giorgio Newberry from Fort Pierce, Florida

4 of 5

ATH Giorgio Newberry, at 6'5" and 249 pounds, is a 4-star recruit and is ranked No. 3 at his position.

As a defensive end, he had 38 tackles, 83 total tackles and two forced fumbles.

Not only does Newberry play defensive end, but he is also a offensive tackle. He is a monster kid who could still get bigger. He has natural strength and speed which allow him to be a productive DE and OT. He is a little raw as a offensive tackle, but that might end up being his best bet to play for the team, even though he is a good pass rushing defensive end. The kid is a man amongst boys already, it's just a matter of finding what suits him best.

Here are his highlights.

CB Nick Waisome from Groveland, Florida

5 of 5

CB Nick Waisome, at 5'10" and 168 pounds, is a 4-star recruit and is ranked No. 2 at his position.

He intercepted four passes, while on offense he had 12 receptions for 400 yards (33.3 average) with eight touchdowns.

What he lacks in size, Waisome makes up for in heart. He needs to fill out his frame with more muscle, while also trying to gain some speed. He is one of the best coverage cornerbacks, but not a complete shutdown cornerback. Waisome shows very fluid hips and the ability to recover quickly. He has some quick instincts, but will be hard to use them against bigger wide receivers. If Waisome gets stronger and faster, he could be an elite cornerback for the Seminoles.

Here are his highlights.
