NBA Trash Talk: Kevin Durant's Comments Spotlight Chris Bosh Pesky Nature
Kevin Durant and Chris Bosh may have made sizable contributions to the Heat-Thunder game Sunday, which Miami ultimately won, but they are in big news everywhere for a different reason. After Bosh fouled James Harden, Durant was exchanging words with his teammate when Bosh felt the need to join in on the conversation.
What exactly was said is neither here nor there, but it could not have been pleasant since afterwards in a post game locker room interview he called Bosh a “fake tough guy”.
To hear things like that come from Durant’s mouth, because he is thought to be such a humble and non confrontational player, you sit back and think about the meaning his comments hold. Of course there will not be an out pour of supportive comments bashing Chris Bosh, but since the OKC's leading scorer is not the first to voice his dislike for the recently reactivated Bosh, his image may be slightly tainted.
The first barrage of insults towards the former Toronto Raptors star came from Shaquille O’Neal, who called Bosh the “Rupaul of NBA Big Men.” Until someone slides a picture or two of him in a sequins number and a blonde wig, that comment will simply go down as humorous banter, but Bosh is slowly but surely stroking that line between player and plaintiff.
He voiced his discontent for Omar Asik’s hustle play in a Chicago Bulls game that led to his four game hiatus and Miami’s 2-3 decline. Criticizing another player simply for hustling to make a play and mistakenly taking you out in the process seems a little like sandbox activity.
Maybe everyone needs to turn their glaring headlights off of LeBron for a minute to put the scope on a player’s reputation that is hanging in the balance.
