Philadelphia Flyers Trade Rumors: Jarome Iginla a Broad Street Bully?

Dominic PerilliJan 26, 2011

I don't understand why the Flyers would ever be in the market for another forward right now. The team is at full capacity and they are meshing very well.

However, with the trade deadline rapidly approaching, many teams are scrambling to grab a last-minute deal before the playoffs.

Incarcerated Bob, a WFAN 660 radio personality for the Boomer and Carlton show, informed me that the Flyers are among the teams interested in Calgary Flames right-winger Jarome Iginla.

"[New York] Rangers have the lead on the Iginla deal. [Philadelphia] Flyers are still monitoring things," Bob said via Twitter

Bob is notorious for breaking some hot stories days, and sometimes weeks, before they are out to the public. Just check out his Twitter timeline to see for yourself.

So, there you have it. The Flyers are in fact interested in Iginla, but they aren't pursuing too hard. I think he would fit in very well here and would only make the Flyers' offense that much better.

**NOTE: As of right now, the Flyers are $73,662.00 over the cap. However, this is the current number 112 days into the season. The Flyers are projected to be UNDER the $59.4 million cap by only $241,728.00 at the end of the season.

As you can see, taking on Iginla's $7 million contract will not be beneficial for the Flyers since the highest-paid player on the roster is currently Danny Briere at $6.5 million.
