January Transfer Window: The Trio That Could Turn Around Liverpool's Season
What a difference a week can make.
After a change of manager, everything is looking bright at Liverpool again. And for the first time in years, the owners have offered a decent transfer kitty.
The American owners have been reported to have offered a £30-50 million transfer budget to new caretaker manager Kenny Daglish. And the transfer rumors have been coming thick and fast.
Players of the highest quality, such as Luis Suarez, Mark van Bommel and Ashley Young, have all be rumoured to want a move to the Mersyside—a very exciting prospect for Liverpool fans who haven't seen any transfer action in years.
As we head in to the last week of the January transfer window, I have prepared a list of the players most likely to move to Liverpool this month.
Enjoy.
Luis Suarez (Ajax)
1 of 3
According to De Telegraf in Holland, Ajax forward Luis Suarez may be on his way to Liverpool in a deal worth around £21million despite a disagreement between the two clubs about the price of the Uruguayan international.
The 23-year-old is said to have told his agent that he would like to move to Liverpool to partner Fernando Torres in attack and has asked Ajax for the deal to be processed quickly.
However, Suarez has not submitted a written transfer request because he fears that fans of the Amsterdam club would turn on him.
Famous for his 49-goal coup last season, his flair and ability to score goals from anywhere on the park will add tremendous quality to the Liverpool squad.
Judgement: A must buy for Liverpool. At any cost.
Ashley Young (Aston Villa)
2 of 3
Ashley Young may also be on the brink of a move up north to the Mersyside after Aston Villa acquired the services of Darren Bent a week ago.
The pacy Englishman is available for just £15 million and with his exhilirating pace, he may be what Liverpool need to trigger a mid-season revival.
However, Villa will not lose Young cheaply as they attempt to work their way out of their own crisis.
Judgement: Buy him, but not for over £18 million.
Charlie Adam (Blackpool)
3 of 3
Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam is apparently interested in a move to Liverpool, according to sources close to his agent.
The Reds have already offered Blackpool in excess of £4 million for the Scot only to have it declined and labeled "disgusting" by Blackpool manager Ian Holloway.
Despite this, Liverpool are reported to have come back with an offer in the region of £7million—an offer which has apparently been accepted by the Blackpool chairman.
Adam would be a welcome addition to Liverpool's midfield but would seemingly struggle for a place in Daglish's starting 11.
All the same, Adam would provide a certain security in the middle of the park for the Reds.
Judgement: A good buy if available for under £7 million. If not, there's no point.
