Golden State Warriors Report: Bad Competition or Sign of Things To Come?

Eddie MartinJan 22, 2011

This recent stretch of games has seen the Warriors go 10-5. With the win against arch-rival Sacramento Kings, it gives the Warriors their first four-game winning streak in three seasons. But is this a sign of things to come for the Dubs? Or is this just an easy part of the schedule that they should be dominating?

Back-to-back games have seen the game come down to a Monta Ellis free-throw line jumper to win the game. In my opinion, a win is a win in any sport whether you win by 40 or two.

One of the ingredients that I haven't heard much chatter about is that they are finally healthy. This is the first time in two years that the Warriors have had a full healthy roster.

This is the team that fans thought they were getting before the Udoh and Amundson injuries. When they did not have Curry and Lee, they were blown out by the top teams in the league.

Besides second-half collapses against Miami and Orlando, Golden State has played extremely well against the top competition in the West. They beat the Hornets on the road, and again collapsed in the second half against the Lakers.

The bench is starting to show signs of life. Getting solid minutes from a different big a game. Against the Pacers, Brandon Wright came in and he showed flashes of the skill that lured Chris Mullin to trade for him on draft day.

Against the Kings, it was Gadzuric with some big rebounds and scoring in overtime. Acie Law is the bench leader. With Stephen Curry constantly getting in foul trouble, Law has been able to eat minutes to allow Stephen to sit.

Not to mention Law has supplied the spark coming of the bench with tremendous hustle. Law has never been a real scorer, but his clutch buckets when the offense is slacking have kept them close.

Look at the teams that they have beaten in this little stretch. A surging Clippers team and the New Orleans Hornets are the only quality wins in this stretch. All of the losses are teams that are over .500 while beating non-playoff teams.

But being only three games back in the loss column before the all-star break is great for this young team. With a new coach, and a team full of young talent, you couldn't ask for better results this far into the season.
