La-Liga and EPL: The Top 14 Left-Footed Players at The Moment

Tobenna Jun 2, 2018

I find it strange that someones right leg can be his swinger. In the world there should be about 70-80% of right-footed footballers  and about 20-30% (estimating) of left-footed footballers. The fewer the number, the more unique they're, left-footed players have not failed to give us a taste of their soccer talents, in fact one of them is even the world player of the year. So this article is for the best left-footed players currently playing in the Spanish La-Liga and the English Premier League.

Sit back and enjoy!

14. Adam Johnson (Manchester City)

Johnson has been an integral part of an impressive Man City side. He might be used as a substitute in most games, but his contribution to the team puts him in this list.

His pace and dribbling skills make him a formidable winger. There is no doubt that he'll surely be a great players in years to come.

So far, Johnson has netted 5 goals in 26 appearances. His screamer goal against Salzburg in the Europa league is just a delight to watch.

13. David Silva (Manchester City)

When he left for Man City, I concluded that his career had begun going downhill. Seems not! So far, He has put up a brilliant performance. He is silencing the critics who say he wouldn't perform under the conditions of the Premier League. From what I've seen, Silva is probably going to excel in the premier league. Also, his versatility in the attacking half of the field  deletes the issue of first team.

The former Valencia man might not have scored many goals, but he is covering up for that on assists. He has scored 2 goals and assisted 6 in 25 appearances

12. Petr Cech (Chelsea)

He may be part of a team that has little chances of clinching the title, but his amazing reflex saves have saved Chelsea from even more heart-wrecking results. During the beginning of the season, he had eight premier league clean sheets in thirteen appearances conceding only eight goals.

He kept a clean sheet against West Brom in the first game of the season and also made a series of excellent saves from Arshavin in their 2-0 victory over the Gunners.

He's definitely proving to be one of the best goalkeepers in the EPL.

I know people will be wondering what he is doing at 11th place, shouldn't he be higher? Well, his injury was a little setback for him, but he's gradually getting back into shape.

Probably  the best left-footed forward in the EPL, "The Vampire" will in no time be hitting the back of net once again. Arsenal's game with Ipswich was just a proof that the experienced Dutchman hasn't lost his slick touches.

10.Marcelo (Real Madrid)

5 of 15

Marcelo is no doubt on his way to becoming one of the greatest left backs in the world (if not left midfielder). He may not have had the best of games against Barcelona, but he surely is an instrumental part of Real Madrid's successful campaign. His acrobatic defending skills are something not all left backs have.

Also, the idea of Mourinho playing him at left midfield once in a while has caused havoc to opposing defenders. His natural dribbling skills and amazing pace just make the Real Madrid fans go wild when he's doing  his thing.

He's one of a kind!

9.Flourent Malouda (Chelsea)

Malouda was just on fire at the beginning of the season, scoring and assisting goals in Chelsea's massive scoreline victories. He netted six goals in only five games.

Anyway, after Chelsea's recent slip of form, the Frenchman has not been able to reach his early season form, but with Chelsea bouncing back with  back-to-back victories, Malouda might once again find that impressive form.

So far, he has netted eight goals in twenty-two Premier League appearances.

8. Ashley Cole (Chelsea)

If there's one player in Chelsea who hasn't lost form along with the team, it's the former Arsenal man. Despite, their recent poor run of games, Ashley Cole has proven to be the best left back currently in the EPL. His pin-point tackles and effective overlaps are much needed for the Blues who are ever grateful to Arsenal for selling such a talent.

The second leg game against Arsenal was one of the few games he was outclassed by a right winger (Walcott).

7. Giuseppe Rossi (Villarreal)

The Italian-American is simply in top form. He's brilliant displays for Villarreal this season are just signs of more to come from the 23 year old.

He is 9th in La-Liga top goal scorers with nine goals in eighteen matches.

6. Iker Casillas (Real Madrid}

Surely, not one of his best seasons, but a pretty decent performance altogether. Most of the goals he has conceded were not really his fault, but the Iker  I know can do much better.

Iker has kept eight clean sheets in nineteen appearances in La-Liga.

5.Gareth Bale (Tottenham)

Bale has been an unbelievable revelation for Tottenham. The former left back has been one of the most influential players in Tottenham. The winger has been deadly on the wings and clinical in front of goal. He is clearly an asset Harry Redknapp will not want to lose.

The Welsh player has netted seven in twenty-two appearances in the EPL.

4. Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid)

The 22 year old has been an important signing for the Galacticos. He has given the Madrid team a lot of quality on the wings. Also, his partnership with C.Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil has been incredible and unstoppable. His pace and impressive dribbles is a threat to the best of defenders in La-Liga.

Di maria has also shown unbelievable amount of stamina; his work rate is something you don't see often with wingers. Ronaldo even said the following, "He’s the one that runs and fights the most on the team.......  Right now he’s one of the most in-shape players on the team". Well, Ronaldo has said it all.

Anyway, Angel has scored five and assisted five in nineteen La-Liga games.

3.Rafael Van Der Vaart (Tottenham)

Tottenham must feel lucky to have acquired VDV, he just can't stop scoring at the moment. His free kicks too have provided a lot of assists for the North London club.He has also admitted to adjusting to English life easily and of course, that is visible on the field He's without doubt, the best player in Tottenham.

The former Real Madrid man has netted nine in sixteen premier league appearances. He also has five assists. Quite good for fantasy leagues!

2. Mesut Ozil (Real Madrid)

13 of 15

Two words, SIMPLY AMAZING. It's unbelievable what the world cup can do to young individuals like this. Thumbs up South Africa!! "The lazy-eyed killer" as I fondly call him is just a pleasure to watch.

Bought as a replacement for the then injured Kaka, Ozil has shown that he is more than capable of filling in the Brazilian's shoes. Mourinho was even quoted as saying the following, "Mesut Ozil can be a key player for Real Madrid for ten years". Ozil is certainly a huge boost to the Real Madrid side who were on the hunt for wingers last transfer market. Ozil is normally played on the wings or as fake striker. His ball control and accurate passes are huge justification for his rank on this list.

He may look lazy and sluggish at first sight, but remember, a book is not judged by it's cover. He is really fast on the ball and deadly when he manipulates his way into the defense.

He currently has the most assists for Real Madrid, recording seven in nineteen league appearances.

1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

I hope you guys were not surprised, because this is becoming so usual that I even sleep when his name is mentioned. The fact is, this guy is on top of the world. He's just on a different level altogether. I can't explain his own situation with words, watch a video of him or something.

He has scored eighteen goals and assisted thirteen in sixteen appearances. Ronaldo must be working really hard to be outscoring this guy.

Conclusion

The season still has a long way to go, meaning that these players still have a lot to offer to their respective clubs. The remainder of the season is probably going to be one of the most intense seasons ever in the La-Liga (El Clasico) and the EPL (Arsenal vs Man Utd).

As for now, I'll probably be waiting to see more left-footed goals (stunners) and of course more left-footed talents
