The 11 Best 11s of College Football, Week Four: Southern California is No. 1

The 11 Best 11s of Week Four

1. Southern California Trojans

Beatdown of injury-plagued Buckeyes cements their position as the best team. Will they be able to survive the upcoming discussion about being the best team of all time?

2. Oklahoma Sooners

This is a truly outstanding team. But we remember the last time they challenged Southern Cal for the national title. Choose the Sooners as "the stalking horse" of the regular season.

3. Missouri Tigers

Could be even more powerful offensively than the Sooners, but not about to match the Oklahoma defense. Lack team speed and quickness to handle Southern Cal in a title game.

4. Florida Gators

Now here is an interesting team that might be able to give the Trojans a battle for the national title. The road schedule will more than likely do the Gators in before then.

5. Georgia Bulldogs

Now here is an interesting team that might be able to give the Trojans a battle for the national title. The road schedule will more than likely do the Bulldogs in before then.

6. Ohio State Buckeyes

Tressel didn't attack, he played it safe. That won't work versus USC. Before we throw the Buckeyes out with the bathwater, let's see how they do in the Big 10 this season.

7. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Now here is a team every bit as dangerous as it looks. It cares nothing for fancy-Dan recruits, field position, or defensive alignments. They can score enough to beat anyone.

8. Penn State Nittany Lions

If Paterno can win them all this season, his Lions would make a fitting opponent for Southern Cal in a title game. He's faced all sorts of "greatest teams of all time" in his career.

9. Auburn Tigers

I'm more impressed with their 3-2 win than others, it seems. This is a well-coached team with a terrific defense and team speed. But they, too, failed against USC in the past.

10. Alabama Crimson Tide

This could be the most underrated team in the country. They appear to me to be solid in every area and have an outstanding coach. The rugged schedule could do them in.

11. Louisiana State Tigers

This team doesn't appear to be afraid to defend their national title. This is a superior team with many outstanding linemen. While a top team, the schedule could do them in.
