Auburn Beats Mississippi State 3-2; Wins a Thrilling Baseball Game, Right?

I honestly couldn't believe this when I saw the score. There I was watching Norte Dame thrash Michigan and I see this crazy score. I thought that the college baseball season had already ended. When I realized that this was the No. 9 team in the nation and one of the lower tier SEC teams, I still couldn't believe it. Now that I have come to terms, this game shows two things about Auburn.

One, Auburn's defense is very good (which you probably knew). They have already proved that they have the ability to play good defense.

I was more impressed by their composure. When your offense can barely do anything, it is very easy for a defense to become frustrated. They know that no matter what they do, they won't be helped out. It's similar to a pitcher pitching a great game and getting no run support; however, Auburn's defense persevered and continued to play at a high level.

The offense is a completely different situation. They are in a new system and that takes sometime to get used to, but if you can only put up three points on Miss. St, you have serious problems.

There is absolutely no way Auburn can compete with LSU, Florida, and Georgia with an offense like that. You can't turn the ball over like Auburn did and expect to win the football game. There were way too many penalties as well. In fact it was a holding penalty that led to the only points for Miss St.

If Auburn doesn't get their act together on offense, they are going to struggle mightily in the best conference in college football.
