College Football Recruiting: Amir Carlisle Drops Stanford, Commits to USC
Four-star running back Amir Carlisle has switched his commitment from Stanford to USC. This is USC’s 24th commitment, with nine (including Soma Vainuku from the 2010 class) already signed and attending classes so as to be available for spring practice.
SCPlaybook.com reported, "'Amir is going to USC,' his father Duane said in a text message to Scout West Recruiting Analyst Brandon Huffman."
Carlisle had a tough decision to make because Stanford was a longtime favorite, and he had been committed for more than a year. With coach Jim Harbaugh leaving though, several Stanford commits are reconsidering their decisions.
"Amir went on an official recruiting trip back in the fall by himself to USC," Duane Carlisle said. "He wanted us to go down and this past weekend USC had a lot of their commits in and a lot of their highly-recruited prospects so that we could get a full picture and get our thoughts on the school and so forth."
One of the better offensive players in the Under Armour game, Carlisle has great change of direction and cutback ability with excellent hands. He has great breakaway speed running the 40 in 4.43.
"He'll be used as a running back, he'll be in the running back room with coach (Kennedy) Pola and it's a great fit for Amir overall—academically, athletically, spiritually and socially," Duane said.
Rumors has it this was a great recruiting weekend for USC, so expect more announcements to come.
