Michigan Football: The Top 10 Schools QB Denard Robinson Could Transfer To
It didn't take Denard Robinson long to become one of college football's most exciting players. In fact, it doesn't take Robinson long to do anything. He's run the 100 meter dash in 10.44 seconds. In one season, he became the first player to pass and rush for over 1,500 yards.
And not one day after Michigan fired head coach Rich Rodriguez, Robinson was back into the headlines, this time for transfer rumors. Robinson has be quiet about his intentions, even after the Wolverines named Brady Hoke head coach.
If Robinson decides to transfer, plenty of school will jump in line despite the sophomore having to take a year off be he can play.
Here are 10 schools that Denard Robinson could transfer to.
University of Florida

Florida wanted Denard Robinson the first time around--for its secondary. So did a bunch of other teams. How could you blame them considering Robinson's speed?
But no one is going to see him as anything but a quarterback now. Florida has brought in Charlie Weis as its new offensive coordinator under new head coach Will Muschamp. Weis coaches a pro-style offense so this may not be the match it would have been a couple of seasons ago.
Robinson nearly committed to the Gators last time despite the possibility of him not playing quarterback. Maybe he likes the school enough even if its not the ideal situation.
Central Florida

If Denard Robinson wants to go back home to Deerfield Beach, Fla., Central Florida is the closest major football program outside of Miami. Robinson even visited during his recruitment.
The Knights use a spread attack that featured freshman quarterback Jeff Godfrey. Godfrey would be the biggest obstacle in the way of making this work. Godfrey would only be a junior when Robinson were to be eligible.
I doubt coach George O'Leary would simply move aside Godfrey for anyone. Robinson would have to fight for the job when he could walk in and start many other places.
West Virginia

What if Denard Robinson decides to leave Michigan because it kicked Rich Rodriguez to the curb and then attended the school that Rodriguez kicked to the curb? How ironic.
West Virginia was in the running for Robinson the first time around, thanks to their intentions of playing him at quarterback.
Dana Holgorsen begins implementing his version of the spread that has torched the Big 12 this season and takes over as head coach just in time for Robinson to take over his offense. Perfect fit? Maybe.
Auburn
4 of 10
Auburn has gone the transfer route before with Cam Newton and it ended in a Heisman Trophy for Newton and a national championship for Auburn.
If Newton goes pro, the Tigers would only have to wait one year to get Denard Robinson in to carry on.If Newton doesn't go pro, even better for Auburn--there would be no gap in superstar quarterbacks.
Robinson's a different player than Newton, but the spread option--especially Gus Malzahn's version--might be the most malleable offense in the game. A tweak and a tweak there is all it would take to make the offense Robinson's.
LSU
5 of 10
Louisiana State overcame an anemic offense this season to stay in the national title hunt late into the season. It seemed that all the Tigers needed some solid and consistent quarterback play out of Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee.
Denard Robinson is more than solid. He's spectacular. Les Miles--despite being 62-17 with a national championship at LSU--seems to always be on the hot seat. Nabbing Robinson could finally cool things off.
Texas
6 of 10
If Denard Robinson wants a true future in the NFL as a quarterback, going to Texas may be his best plan.
New Texas offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin molded Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore from unheralded college recruit into a lauded NFL draft prospect.
Robinson could use quite a bit more structure and tradition to his game if he wants to play at the next level. Texas could use some talent at quarterback.
Ole Miss
7 of 10
Houston Nutt will do anything to get the right talent for his team. He's over-signed recruits on purpose and he's taken in former Texas quarterback Jevan Snead and former Oregon quarterback Jeramiah Masoli when both needed a new home.
Nutt could stand to land Denard Robinson, considering his currently tenuous employment status. Robinson could be a job-saver for several coaches. Nutt has famous charisma, which would help in landing Robinson.
Purdue
8 of 10
Purdue coach Danny Hope loves players from Florida. Once he took over as Purdue's head coach, he diverted recruiting efforts to the Sunshine State. Hope often overlooks low recruiting rankings just because players are from Florida.
Low rankings won't come into play with Denard Robinson. If Robinson wants to stay in the Big Ten, this might be his best bet. Purdue is one of the most unstable programs in the conference. It would reach out quickly and fervently to Robinson.
TCU
9 of 10
Just as TCU gets set for its first season in the Big East in 2012, it would love to have Denard Robinson as its quarterback.
The Horned Frogs lose quarterback Andy Dalton and may take a step back offensively in 2011. Robinson could solve all that in 2012.
TCU's new conference alignment surely has changed its profile in the eyes of players and recruits.
Texas A&M
10 of 10
Texas A&M has built a serious amount of momentum the past two seasons and hopes to carry that on next year with Ryan Tannehill as quarterback. The Aggies' offense is pass first for its quarterback, but allows for some running as well.
If A&M wants to ensure it continues heading in the right direction, it should look in Denard Robinson's direction. No matter the talent around him, Robinson provides instant credibility to any offense.
