Georgia Football: Top 10 Recruiting Targets for the Bulldogs in 2011

Adam FromalJun 4, 2018

After Georgia's disappointing 2010 campaign, which finished with a touchdown-free loss to Central Florida in the Liberty Bowl, it's time to focus on recruiting.

Nothing has the ability to immediately turn around the direction a program is headed in like recruiting does.

Land a couple of five-stars or four-stars and the talent is there for a potential BCS run in the next few years.

Georgia has already signed 18 recruits, nine of which are four-stars.

So now, read on for the Bulldogs' top 10 recruiting targets in 2011.

Isaiah Crowell

1 of 10

The 6'0", 210-pound running back from Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia, is without a doubt the Bulldogs' top target.

His 4.43 40-yard dash time helped boost him to his lofty No. 2 ranking on Scout.com's list of running back prospects.

Crowell recently said about Georgia, "Really, I don't know how they're going to be when I get there."

The running back is now deciding between Georgia, Alabama and Auburn. The only knock on him is his unproven durability.

Ray Drew

2 of 10

Ray Drew is a 6'5", 248-pound defensive end from Thomasville, Georgia.

This incredible pass rusher is the No. 8-ranked defensive end on Scout.com thanks to his explosiveness and size. If he could improve his toughness, he'd be a truly incredible player.

Drew is also incredibly mature for his age. He's a licensed preacher who is able to assess his own strengths and weaknesses. He eliminated Florida from his list because they didn't promote maturity.

Georgia, Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee and Clemson are the remaining schools on his list.

Marcus Roberson

3 of 10

A safety from the high school football powerhouse known as St. Thomas Aquinas, Marcus Roberson is the 11th-ranked player at his position according to Scout.com.

Roberson stands 6'0" and weighs 180 pounds.

He recently had some success in the Under Armour game when he picked off a pass in the national spotlight.

Roberson visited Auburn, Georgia and Texas Tech in 2010 but remains interested in Florida, Illinois, Miami and Notre Dame.

Jay Rome

4 of 10

The top tight end recruit in the nation would be a great addition to Georgia's team.

Rome is an absolute monster, weighing in at 240 pounds and standing 6'6".

The only drawback is Rome's lack of elite strength. But he can block and catch with the best of them. Plus, as a great basketball player, he possesses great leaping ability.

Rome is looking at a few schools still, but he has admitted that Georgia is his top choice. We're keeping our fingers crossed here in Athens.

Nick O'Leary

5 of 10

Another of the country's top high school tight ends, Nick O'Leary is ranked as the second-best at his position by Scout.com.

At 6'4" and 230 pounds, the only knock on him is his lack of size. But O'Leary is a great receiving tight end with tremendous blocking skills.

Florida State and Miami look to be the favorites right now in landing O'Leary, but Georgia remains a dark-horse candidate.

If Jay Rome signs with the Bulldogs though, gaining the services of O'Leary will be far less of a priority.

Jermauria Rasco

6 of 10

Jermauria Rasco is the No. 2-ranked defensive end in the country according to Scout.com.

Rasco is 6'3", 250 pounds but can still run a 4.60 40-yard dash.

He doesn't possess a great set of moves, but that's something that can be improved quite easily.

Rasco's top choices are Arkansas, Florida State, Alabama and Georgia among a list of other top football programs. LSU, his hometown school, may be the leading suitor right now.

This five-star recruit would look great in red and black.

Stephone Anthony

7 of 10

Scout.com's No. 4-ranked outside linebacker has a tremendous amount of athletic ability.

Stephone Anthony calls North Carolina home, but Georgia fans will be hoping that he travels south to Athens next year.

His tackling technique needs improvement, but Anthony's raw athleticism makes up for it right now.

Florida, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Georgia are all still possible destinations for Anthony.

Erique Florence

8 of 10

Erique Florence is the fifth-rated safety in the nation according to Scout.com.

He's 6'2", weighs 185 pounds and runs a blazing-fast 4.46 40-yard dash.

The defensive back will mostly likely find himself playing safety in the future.

Florence won't commit until signing day, but it seems as though virtually every SEC team is still in the mix. Since Georgia is an elite team in the SEC, they're definitely still in it.

Malcom Mitchell

9 of 10

Malcom Mitchell has compared himself to Deion Sanders, an appropriate comparison for the fifth-ranked cornerback in the land.

Mitchell, from Valdosta High School in Valdosta, Georgia, is 6'1", 190 pounds and runs a 4.40 40-yard dash.

He's a great cornerback with tremendous athleticism and should be able to improve his technique drastically with good coaching.

Mitchell will announce his decision on January 13th. After Florida was eliminated from contention, the decision will be between Alabama and Georgia.

Gabe Wright

10 of 10

The No. 7 defensive tackle on Scout.com is Gabe Wright.

Wright is a massive 6'4", 300 pounds and he'll still be able to put on some muscle mass in college weight rooms.

He has a tremendous amount of potential and needs to work on his ability to disengage his blocker. But Wright has all the talent in the world and should be an elite collegiate defensive tackle.

Auburn is still the leader with Tennessee not far behind, but Georgia is still a contender for Wright's services.
