USC Football Recruiting: Trojans Get Another Verbal from a 2012 Wide Receiver
Well, one thing is for sure: USC loves wide receivers and make no mistake about it, wide receivers love USC.
For confirmation of this, look no further than the 2012 recruiting class that Lane Kiffin has put together.
Of the four verbal commitments, three are wide receivers and the latest to make the plunge is 3-star (as rated by Scout.com), Darreus Rogers.
Rogers, who led his Carson (CA) high school team to the city section title game this year as a junior, is a fast and elusive receiver with big upside.
It also helps to have friends on the team and one of the other wide receivers joining Rogers is Jayden Mickens.
In fact, Mickens and Rogers are very close and it is suspected that this also played a part in his early decision to join the Trojans.
It has been conjectured that Coach Kiffin, given the propensity of skill position players the Trojans have coming in this year and next, will look to employ more of a spread option and Rogers' verbal will do nothing to quell this talk.
Joining Rogers and Mickens in the 2012 class are 4-star wide receiver Jordan Payton from Oaks Christian and Arik Armstead, a 5-star offensive lineman from Pleasant Grove high school in Elk Grove, Ca.
It will be interesting to see how Kiffin juggles his scholarship offers in 2012 when there is a very real possibility that the Trojans will be operating with 10 fewer than they have available this year.
In the meantime, the Trojans are set for wide receivers.
And then some.
