Ciaren Clark Shocks Chelsea with Last-Minute Goal at Stamford Bridge

Roberto Alvarez-GallosoJan 2, 2011

The hopes for Chelsea to advance in the Premier League was dealt a blow with Ciaren Clark's equalizer in stoppage time.

When it appeared that John Terry was going to win the game for Chelsea with his impressive rebound goal, Ciaren Clark scored an equalizer with a kick that went past Petr Cech.

The game was exciting with Frank Lampard scoring the first goal for Chelsea on the basis of a penalty kick. He fired the ball high within the net.

Aston Villa was not going to sit back and relax. Ashley Young charged and equalized from the penalty spot.

The tension in Stamford Bridge was high as Chelsea FC supporters were shouting their support for the team.

Paulo Ferreira made a mistake that cost Chelsea dearly and left John Terry and Jeffrey Bruma looking ridiculous.

He attempted a pass that did not help Terry and Bruma. Cech had to come out of the goal post to resolve the problem.

Emile Heskey then scores a goal that places Aston Villa ahead. Chelsea had to keep playing and attempt an equalizer, followed by a victory.

Chelsea was able to maintain possession of the game (in spite of intermittent possessions by Aston Villa) with Drogba scoring an equalizer with a direct kick.

Terry then proceeded to score another goal for Chelsea before the last-minute goal by Clark.

The game itself was exciting even though Chelsea may not have much hope for the Premier League. Chelsea is currently in fifth place in the EPL standings.

Chelsea and Aston Villa committed fouls that earned both teams yellow cards. Chelsea received seven yellow cards compared to Aston Villa.

Ciaren Clark is the most valued player for his last-minute equalizer.
