Dog Gone! Why Mark Richt Needs His Walking Papers at Georgia

Larry BurtonJan 2, 2011

Ok, Georgia. Let's not talk winning percentages anymore, let's not talk about winning seasons long gone by, let's talk about embarrassment.

You've become one now and we already have Vanderbilt, we don't need another.

Richt was hired by Georgia because he was supposed to be the offensive genius behind the Florida State run of impressive wins and National Championships.

He's had ten years to get the offense going at Georgia.

This past week, with a national audience watching, you put up six points against UCF and for those who don't know who that even is, it's the University of Central Florida, an afterthought of a football program when Richt took over at Georgia.

Don't blame Bobo, Richt is supposed to have the answers for a struggling offense and yet they couldn't put up a touchdown?

And that's with A.J. Green?

Boy, care to look at next year's productivity projection?

If Richt cares about Georgia, ask him to walk away and take a job at Pittsburgh, where they only care about going to a decent bowl and the coaches not beating your baby's mother.

You might fit in fine there and retire.

This was a year that the SEC East was not just yours for the taking, but the door was so wide open that South Carolina won it.

Talk about a once in a lifetime occurrence.

And now sits Florida, with all that talent, an energized head coach and a master offensive coordinator in Charlie Weis, and it's apparent the door has closed and you'll never see the other side of it with Mark Richt.

The program needs a new direction, it needs some excitement, it needs a new coach.
