South Carolina Football 2010: Ok, Garcia, You've Had Your Fun, on To Shaw

In the past three bowl games, Stephen Garcia has been wonderful...for the opposition. 

He is responsible for seven interceptions and NO passing touchdowns.  Ouch.  You want to find a reason for South Carolina's bowl ineptitude?  Look no further then the man wearing the No. 5 (and I don't mean Stephon Gilmore). 

Look, I have been one of Stephen Garcia's biggest supporters.  I hoped upon hope that his tremendous physical gifts would outweigh his lack of other football traits.  

Namely, a football brain.

This is where the buck stops for me as a fan supporter.  I can't do it anymore.  Not with the Gamecocks, whom I will love until the day I die, but for Stephen Garcia.  I have had it with the inconsistency, the terrible play in bowls and the lack of leadership. 

Who was getting the defense fired up to go out and play after the score that cut the game to 17-19?  Brian Maddox.  Who was it that was sitting by himself, aloof from the other players?  Stephen Garcia.

The man has wasted his considerable talents by refusing to study and become the heady player a great team needs.  I was clamoring for Connor Shaw by halftime and was floored by the fact that we did not see No. 14 at all. 

Connor Shaw is the guy who is the coach's pet.  He studies, he devours film. 

Oh, and did I mention his physical gifts are pretty substantial as well? 

He is quick and accurate.  He may not have the strongest arm, but you don't have to have a cannon to lead a team. 

Stephen Garcia, I have been a big-time advocate.  After the debacle in the third consecutive bowl, I am done.

Please, prove me wrong somehow.
