Pro Bowl Tournament: By Division

James KeenDec 31, 2010

After reading and listening to everyone complaining about all the Pro Bowl snubs, I started thinking. What is one way we can get more high caliber players onto a roster to play the best against the best? The best thing I could come up with was a short, single elimination tournament. Take the top performing players from each team in each division. To the best of my ability these are the rosters I have come up with.

NFC South

1 of 9

Quarterback- Drew Brees, Josh Freeman

This was tough. I went with Freeman over Ryan because Freeman has less picks, a better passer rating and is a threat to run the ball. I know a lot of you are thinking that Brees has 21 picks currently but for a tournament I want a guy that can play when it comes down to the wire and can pull a team on his own. The Falcons lead the NFC in rush attempts. Michael Turner was the horse of the Falcons offense. Not Matt Ryan.

Running Back- Michael Turner, LaGarrette Blount

Would love to stick a guy like Carnell WIlliams, Mike Goodson or Jason Snellig behind Blount because of their receiving abilities. But if Turner goes down, you have to have a pure rusher to step in.

Wide Receiver- Roddy White, Marques Colston, Mike Williams

Tight End- Tony Gonzalez, Kellen Winslow

I would love to have put Jimmy Graham at tight end. However, even though he's been a force in his short time a a starter, he just hasn't gotten the playing time.

Fullback- Ovie Mughelli

Tackles- Sam Baker, Jon Stinchcomb

Guards- Jahri Evans, Carl Nicks

Center- Jonathan Goodwin

Defensive End- John Abraham, Charles Johnson

Defensive Tackle- Sedrick Ellis, Roy Miller

Inside Linebacker- Curtis Lofton, Jonathon Vilma

Barret Ruud was a good candidate but Vilma is a better pass-rusher and has forced more fumbles.

Outside Linebacker- James Anderson, Geno Hayes

Free Safety- Thomas Decloud, Sherrod Martin

Strong Safety- Charles Godfrey

It was tough to keep out the hard hitting, tackling machine Roman Harper but Godfrey's ball-hawking skills take it.

Cornerback- Brent Grimes, Aqib Talib, Jabari Greer

Punter- Thomas Morestead

Kicker- Matt Bryant

Return Specialist- Eric Weems

NFC North

2 of 9

Quarterback- Aaron Rodgers, Jay Cutler

Running Back- Adrian Peterson, Matt Forte'

Wide Receiver- Greg Jennings, Calvin Johnson, Percy Harvin

Tight End- Brandon Pettigrew, Visanthe Shiancoe

Full Back- Jerome Felton

Greg Olsen was a great red-zone target this season but lacked everywhere else due to falling victim to Mike Martz' system.

Tackles- Chad Clifton, Bryan Bulaga

Guards- Ryan Cook

Center- Dominic Raiola

Defensive End- Jared Allen, Julius Peppers

Defensive Tackle- Ndamukong Suh, Anthony Adams

Inside Linebacker- Brian Urlacher, Desmond Bishop

Outside Linebacker- Chad Greenway, Clay Matthews

Strong Safety- Daniel Manning

Cornerback- Charles Woodson, Charles Tillman, Tramon Williams

Kicker- Mason Crosby

Punter- Chris Kluwe

Frank Gore was the second best rusher in the west but being on Injured Reserve keeps him out.

Full Back- Michael Robinson

Tackles- Anthony Davis, Levi Brown

5 of 9

Quarterback- Peyton Manning, Matt Schaub

Running Back- Arian Foster, Chris Johnson

Another tough decision taking Johnson over Maurice Jones-Drew, but Johnson has had a little bit more success in the red-zone.

Austin Collie could have easily replaced Thomas had he stayed healthy.

Tight End- Mercedes Lewis, Jacob Tamme

Who Would Win?

9 of 9

Honestly I think it would come down to the two North divisions. I would have to lean toward the NFC North taking it all. They have a top quarterback, possibly the NFL's best running back, NFL's top receivers and an equally stout defense.

The NFC South would be tough, along with the NFC East but I'm not too sure about the remaining teams. There are a lot of big holes to fill in some of the rest of the divisions. Comment and let me know who you think would be the strongest team.
