Auburn Football Recruiting: Three 5-Star Prospects Narrow Search, Include Tigers
Auburn's 2011 recruiting class doesn't have any 5-star talent on the books at the moment, but the Tigers could make a few huge splashes before it's all said and done.
Over the weekend some very interesting storylines emerged that should raise the eyebrows of every Auburn fan.
First, 5-star offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio revealed that he has eliminated Miami from his final five and is instead looking at Auburn now.
While Alabama and USC are the favorites to land the top overall offensive lineman in the country, Auburn is very much in the mix and still has time to sway him toward a commitment to the Tigers.
In addition to Kouandjio, Auburn hosted 5-star offensive tackle Christian Westerman and 5-star running back Savon Huggins for visits over the weekend.
Westerman, who is committed to Texas, appears to be wavering on his commitment in the wake of the Longhorns' 5-7 season and significant coaching changes.
Westerman has said he is unsure if he'll be visiting any other schools but that he was very interested in Auburn and would have to re-evaluate things with Texas. Based on his recent comments, it sounds like a decommitment is a matter of when and not if.
Huggins, who recently added Auburn, USC, Georgia and Tennessee to the mix, described his visit to Auburn as a perfect 10.
While Huggins is still believed to be favoring Notre Dame and Rutgers, the Tigers appear to be making a strong push in hopes of stealing him away.
If Auburn was to land all three prospects, a class that's currently ranked just inside the top 20 will suddenly be vying with Alabama as the SEC's top 2011 recruiting class.
