Bowl Schedule 2010: Ranking Most and Least Expensive Bowl Game Tickets
Are you looking to make a last-minute trip to one of college football's many, many bowl games?
Well here we have ticket prices for every single bowl game, ranked in order from the least expensive bowl game to the most expensive. Each slide will also list the most expensive ticket for each game and the least expensive ticket.
So if you want to do some cross-country traveling for the next month to see some college football, make sure you go through this in order to determine how much you will have to spend to make it to every game this bowl season.
*Ticket prices are courtesy of Stubhub. Also, there were no tickets available for December 18th's bowl games: New Mexico Bowl, Humanitarian Bowl and New Orleans Bowl.
32. GoDaddy.com Bowl: Middle Tennessee Vs. Miami (Ohio)
1 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $30
Least Expensive Ticket: $30
This may be the first time that I have ever seen a game have the same price for most expensive and least expensive tickets. There could be a little intrigue from folks in the midwest since Miami (OH) did win the MAC championship game.
31. Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii Vs. Tulsa
2 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $99
Least Expensive Ticket: $25
This is a virtual home game for Hawaii, so folks could ask a little bit more for tickets than this game would normally get. Plus, it should be an exciting shootout between two really good offenses and two mediocre (at best) defenses.
30. Little Caesar's Bowl: FIU Vs. Toledo
3 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $71
Least Expensive Ticket: $35
The game takes place in Ford Field in Detroit and there are likely ticket holders hoping that some of the Toledo fans want to make the short journey to Michigan. I can't imagine a very large contingent of Florida International folks in attendance for this game.
29. Independence Bowl: Air Force Vs. Georgia Tech
4 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $95
Least Expensive Ticket: $15
Air Force is at least a little bit of a draw because it plays such a unique option style of football that isn't used a lot in today's college football. The game takes place close to ACC country in Louisiana and the Yellow Jackets will have a big crowd looking for tickets.
28. St Petersburg Bowl: Southern Miss Vs. Louisville
5 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $110
Least Expensive Ticket: $45
The close proximity that these teams have to the site of the game is what's driving these ticket prices. The game is being played in Florida and Southern Mississippi will have the advantage with the crowd. Don't underestimate the Cardinals fans wanting to travel south for the holiday.
27. Compass Bowl: Pitt Vs Kentucky
6 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $170
Least Expensive Ticket: $38
This is an ugly game, but it does feature one of the better running backs in college football in Pitt's Dion Lewis. He is a game-changing type of talent but got lost amid all of Pitt's other problems this season.
The game is in Alabama and SEC fans will travel to see almost anyone play, and Kentucky is the draw for them.
26. Military Bowl: East Carolina Vs Maryland
7 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $175
Least Expensive Ticket: $50
I don't get how East Carolina and Maryland are playing in the Military Bowl, but I don't pretend to understand a lot about the bowl system.
The game is being played in Maryland's backyard, Washington D.C., so the Terps should be able to turnout a large number of fans for this game.
25. TicketCity Bowl: Northwestern Vs. Texas Tech
8 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $190
Least Expensive Ticket: $38
This game will be played in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl and Texans love their football. Texas Tech will be the overwhelming crowd favorite in this game.
Northwestern will be lucky if it even gets 30 percent of the total crowd on its side in this game.
24. Poinsettia Bowl: Navy Vs. San Diego State
9 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $199
Least Expensive Ticket: $64
The bowl system is pretty ingenious in that it keeps teams close to their home in order to draw people to the game. San Diego State gets to play in San Diego against Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl.
Navy has a loyal following and can get a pretty large number of people to follow them whereever they go.
23. Armed Forces Bowl: Army Vs. SMU
10 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $225
Least Expensive Ticket: $28
An actual military school competing in a military bowl, how convenient. You have the draw of Army going to a military bowl. Even if the game is in Dallas, it will get a good crowd.
SMU has finally started to comeback from that mid-1980's death penalty and it gets to its second consecutive bowl game. It is in its home of Texas going against a solid Army team.
22. Liberty Bowl: Georgia Vs. UCF
11 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $225
Least Expensive Ticket: $40
NFL fans love to watch highly touted prospects, even in the meaningless bowl games. This game features a potential top 10 pick in the 2011 NFL draft—Georgia receiver AJ Green. He is one of the most talented players who will be in the draft and the allure of seeing him will entice people to watch this game.
21. Champs Sports Bowl: West Virginia Vs. NC State
12 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $250
Least Expensive Ticket: $9
This game is probably overpriced for a lot of people. Neither team is good, though West Virginia is a solid Big East team. They kept both these teams relatively close to home—the game is in Orlando. I can't imagine folks spending the top dollar for this game.
20. Car Care Bowl: South Florida Vs. Clemson
13 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $275
Least Expensive Ticket: $29
Clemson will be playing close to its home—the game is in Charlotte, NC. Diehard Tiger fans would be willing to pay to see their team in a bowl game.
South Florida folks have to travel quite a way and could look at those low-end tickets to get into the stadium.
19. Fight Hunger Bowl: Nevada Vs. Boston College
14 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $295
Least Expensive Ticket: $50
Other then wanting to get a close-up look at the team that knocked Boise State out of the BCS, there can't be that many people in either Nevada or Boston College wanting to trek to San Francisco for this game.
18. Las Vegas Bowl: Boise State Vs. Utah
15 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $300
Least Expensive Ticket: $17
I thought that this game would be higher on the list just because of Boise State. The Broncos will have as many folks as they can have there to support this team that they love, even though they fell short of expectations.
Utah is a very good team and could give Boise a good game. That could make it more intriguing for Utes fans to head to Vegas on December 22nd.
17. Alamo Bowl: Oklahoma State Vs. Arizona
16 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $465
Least Expensive Ticket: $5
Oklahoma State is the draw in this game. The Cowboys were a Top 15 team all season long and they play a very exciting style of football. They score fast and often, and those teams will always draw a big crowd. The high price for this game reflects that.
16. Outback Bowl: Penn State Vs. Florida
17 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $500
Least Expensive Ticket: $75
I have to believe that tickets for this game went higher once Urban Meyer announced this as his last game. Florida fans love Meyer and will want to show their support for the coach in this game.
Plus, on the other side is one of the legendary coaches in sports history—Joe Paterno. The teams struggled this season but they still have that marquee name value.
15. Texas Bowl: Illinois Vs. Baylor
18 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $595
Least Expensive Ticket: $25
This is another case of Texas' love of football and a Texas-based team playing in the state. The only draw in this game is the fact that Baylor made it to a bowl game and the Bears get to play it in Houston.
14. Insight Bowl: Missouri Vs. Iowa
19 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $600
Least Expensive Ticket: $15
Two teams that travel well, and Missouri is one of the best teams in the country. The Tigers defeated an Oklahoma team that was ranked No.1 in the polls at the time and won the Big 12 title. They are a very good, under-appreciated team.
Iowa fell short of expectations but the Hawkeyes have a rabid fan base that will follow them anywhere that they are playing. They will have to travel all the way to Arizona to watch their Hawkeyes play this game.
13. Music City Bowl: North Carolina Vs. Tennessee
20 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $749
Least Expensive Ticket: $32
Even if the team isn't very good and the fans are angry at the direction the team has taken, Tennessee is going to get people to go watch the team play. Given the high ticket price for this game, that is very evident. Plus, the game is in Nashville so the Vols will have a huge home-crowd advantage.
12. Holiday Bowl: Nebraska Vs. Washington
21 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $999
Least Expensive Ticket: $40
Jake Locker is the biggest name draw in this game. He will be a first-round draft pick in April and will look to make a lasting impression on scouts and fans in this game.
Nebraska's fan base is as loyal and devoted as there is in sports and they will pay any price to watch their team play, no matter where it is.
11. Capital One Bowl: Alabama Vs. Michigan State
22 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $1000
Least Expensive Ticket: $45
A BCS-caliber game between the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide and co-Big Ten champion Michigan State Spartans. This could be Mark Ingram's final college game and Crimson Tide fans want to give him a nice, very loud sendoff.
10. Gator Bowl: Mississippi State Vs. Michigan
23 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $1250
Least Expensive Ticket: $11
This game is being played in SEC country, Florida, and that makes Mississippi State a draw to all those SEC fans that want to see just how good Mississippi State is.
Michigan fans have to be excited to be making their first bowl appearance in three years. They should be willing to drive these ticket prices up to see the game. Plus, Denard Robinson is an electrifying player that people will pay to see.
9. Sun Bowl: Notre Dame Vs. Miami
24 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $2750
Least Expensive Ticket: $44
This game is all about the names of the two teams playing in it. Notre Dame is still one of the most prestigious names in all of college football and the Irish can get people to pay more money for their tickets.
Miami is bringing in a new head coach that it hopes can restore former glory. This game is more about the names on the jersey then the talent that will be on the field.
8. Cotton Bowl: LSU Vs. Texas A&M
25 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $3000
Least Expensive Ticket: $48
An SEC team against a team from Texas that will be playing in Texas equals one of the highest priced non-BCS tickets out there. Both of these teams have been ranked all season long and have two of the best defenses in the country.
7. Chick-Fil-A Bowl: South Carolina Vs. Florida State
26 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $15,883
Least Expensive Ticket: $3
SEC versus ACC right in the heart of SEC and ACC country makes this one of the most expensive non-BCS tickets out there. Plus, the intrigue of Steve Spurrier versus Florida State again has likely driven prices up a bit.
6. Orange Bowl: Stanford Vs. Virginia Tech
27 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $17,648
Least Expensive Ticket: $5
The first BCS game on the list is the Orange Bowl game. It's a game between two of the best, hottest teams in the country. Stanford doesn't have the biggest following which is why these tickets are cheap. Well, cheap when compared to other BCS game ticket prices.
5. Pinstripe Bowl: Syracuse Vs. Kansas State
28 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $31,945
Least Expensive Ticket: $53
I did a triple-take when I saw the prices for this game. The only draw here is that the game is being played in Yankee Stadium in New York. I don't care how popular Syracuse is in New York, that's ridiculous for this game.
4. Rose Bowl: Wisconsin Vs. TCU
29 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $31,992
Least Expensive Ticket: $139
This game is about the tradition of the Rose Bowl, even though it's not a classic Big Ten-Pac 10 game. Wisconsin fans will watch their team play anywhere, particularly if it's in Pasadena on January 1st.
TCU is the novelty act in this game. People may not know a lot about the Horned Frogs, even after the undefeated season, and want to see what all the fuss is about in this game.
3. Sugar Bowl: Ohio State Vs. Arkansas
30 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $33,931
Least Expensive Ticket: $110
I would have guessed that this would have been second on the list. Ohio State always travels well and has one of the biggest national followings of any team in the country.
Arkansas plays in the SEC and those fans are completely insane and will do whatever they have to in order to see their team play, particularly if it's in a BCS game.
2. Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma Vs. UConn
31 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $47,500
Least Expensive Ticket: $4
You can see the lack of interest in this game because the least expensive seats are $4. This is expected to be a blowout by Oklahoma. Still, they are looking for $47,500 for the high-end tickets. I think that Sooners fans might be willing to give up some coin to see their team in a BCS game again.
1. BCS National Championship Game: Oregon Vs. Auburn
32 of 32
Most Expensive Ticket: $100,003
Least Expensive Ticket: $40
If you want a great seat to see two of the most explosive offenses in all of college football, you are going to have to cough up six figures for that. Probably the only higher ticket price that we will see for a game in 2011 will be the Super Bowl.
If you have a ton of money just lying around and want to see a national championship game, here is the perfect opportunity for you.
