Fantasy Football Week 15 Rankings: Quarterback Matchups To Exploit

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballDec 14, 2010

In a bind at who to play at the quarterback position with your fantasy football season on the line? If so, take a look at our breakdown of four quarterbacks that could lead you to a Week 15 victory during the fantasy playoffs.

Jon Kitna (Dallas Cowboys) vs. Washington

For those who watched the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles last week, it was apparent that Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo likely won’t return this year. Why the Cowboys haven’t put him on injured reserve yet is baffling, it’s not like they’re going to the playoffs or anything.

Jon Kitna has filled in admirably in Romo’s place, and he’s played well with Jason Garrett as interim head coach. Two picks doomed Kitna last week though he should be alright this week.

The Washington Redskins are giving up around 16 fantasy points per game, and Kitna has been throwing often, so you can expect him to hit that total in Week 15.

Josh Freeman (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. Detroit

If only Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman played the whole game like he does in the second half. The owner of multiple fourth-quarter comebacks, Freeman had 214 of his 266 passing yards against the Washington Redskins last week in the second half.

Regardless of what time in the game he does it, Freeman is a good play this week against the Detroit Lions. Sure, the Detroit defense looked good last week but that’s mostly because they were playing against Green Bay Packers quarterback Matt Flynn, who relieved a concussed Aaron Rodgers.

With respect, Flynn is just not that good of a quarterback. Freeman is, and will show it this week.

Matt Schaub (Houston Texans) @ Tennessee

Has any team imploded on itself as much as the Tennessee Titans have this season?

Towards the beginning of the season people were talking about the Titans as Super Bowl contenders, now people are wondering when head coach Jeff Fisher will be fired.

Losers of six straight, the Titans haven’t intercepted a pass in their last three games. A team that was once so strong against the pass is now just mediocre at best, and that bodes well for Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub.

Schaub torched the Baltimore Ravens for over 390 passing yards and three scores last week and he is primed for another solid performance here. He now has 20 touchdown passes to 10 interceptions on the season and you need to ride him while he is hot.

Jason Campbell (Oakland Raiders) vs. Denver

In a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week Oakland Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell threw for 324 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. That marked his best fantasy performance of the season, which is why you shouldn’t expect Campbell to continue to post numbers like that.

He’s good at not throwing interceptions, but he doesn’t throw too many touchdowns either.

The Denver Broncos are giving up around 18 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, but the Raiders could lean heavily on the running game here.

Still, he had 17 fantasy points in his first meeting with the Broncos and should be considered in all fantasy formats.
