Oregon Ducks Get Updated Look for BCS National Championship

Today in Dallas, the Oregon Ducks and Nike revealed the jersey combination that the Ducks will be sporting on January 10. While most people were expecting an outlandish style of jersey, Oregon countered that thought with just a revision of a current jersey.

With the Ducks being the No. 2 team in the nation, they will be the away team in the national championship. The only significance this had was the Ducks will be wearing white as the road team.

As the road team, Oregon has two different style of jerseys. The first is an all white jersey with green lettering and then another style with carbon coloring to go with their new helmets they unveiled this year.

Oregon went ahead and combined both of those jerseys to come up with the national title jersey. The jersey is currently being called "the war machine" jersey and is a white jersey that has the carbon lettering with a yellow outlining to it. They also have added an O a little bit higher and right on the collar line. Lastly, the collar itself has a new design to it as well. It appears the Ducks will be also wearing their white pants and carbon helmet.

The Ducks have benefited from having the owner of Nike, Phil Knight, graduate from the university with new facilities and uniforms that are connecting more and more with recruits. While many believe they are taking a shot at the program by calling them Nike U, Oregon has embraced their good fortune and used it to its advantage.  

While most teams have a tradition of uniforms that have been around for decades, Oregon has moved to a trend of using new uniform designs every three years. The benefit for Oregon is, Nike works closely with the student athletes, gets their input and bases the new uniforms off of player input.  

For most teams, this day would go down as a new and exciting part of their school's history. For Duck fans, they still become excited at the prospect of new uniforms but are used to the constant change.  

While it certainly is exciting to see the Ducks getting new uniforms and debuting them just for the national championship, fans will quickly overlook them and go back to being anxious for this game to finally kickoff.
