College Bowl Predictions: Cam Newton, LaMichael James, 10 Most Exciting Players
Bowl season is almost here, which means we get a chance to watch all the best teams in the country.
From the New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 18 to the big game on Jan. 10, nonstop college football action will sweep across the country.
Hundreds and hundreds of college football players will take the field hoping to make a big impact on national television.
There are some players though that are just more exciting than others. They're the players who you can't take your eyes off of when they're on the field. You hold your breath when they start to make a play.
They're the most exciting players in college football.
Cam Newton
1 of 10
This picture should say it all. You kind of have to be an exciting player to win the Heisman Trophy.
Cam Newton has been thrilling to watch all year, making plays with his arm and his legs, even catching a touchdown pass of his own.
It seems as though he can run around, through, over, or maybe even under defenders.
Newton has thrown for 2,589 yards and 28 touchdowns this year while running for another 1,409 yards and 20 touchdowns.
LaMichael James
2 of 10
Also playing in the BCS National Championship game, LaMichael James gives us yet another reason to watch.
He is the main reason for the high-flying Oregon Ducks' success on offense this year.
The 5'9" sophomore running back has carried the ball 281 times, picking up 1,682 yards and 21 touchdowns on the year. This is despite missing the first game of the season and watching his teammates blow out New Mexico 72-0.
James has also gained 169 yards receiving and scored another touchdown.
Don't take your eyes off James when you're watching him play or else he might be in the end zone before you look back.
Justin Blackmon
3 of 10
Justin Blackmon isn't really as well known as he should be.
The dynamic wide receiver for the Oklahoma State Cowboys is one of the nation's top players at his position. He may even be the absolute best.
Despite missing the game against Kansas State while serving a one-game suspension for a DUI, Blackmon still managed to accumulate 1,665 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns while catching 102 passes.
He also ran the ball four times for 77 yards and another score.
When he played, Blackmon did not have a single game this season with less than 100 yards. He also caught at least one touchdown pass in every game.
A.J. Green
4 of 10
As he will most likely go pro after the Liberty Bowl, this may be your last chance to watch A.J. Green haul in some amazing catches.
Thanks to a four game suspension at the beginning of the year, Green doesn't have the same numbers that Blackmon does, but he still produces highlight after highlight.
Green's first catch of the year was a one-handed grab in the end zone against Colorado and he hasn't been any less thrilling since.
The receiver has caught 49 passes this season in his limited action for 771 yards and nine touchdowns. He's also run three times for 44 yards.
Andrew Luck
5 of 10
Exciting may not be the best word to describe Andrew Luck. Incredible and NFL-ready might be better choices.
Luck has been the catalyst for Stanford's incredible success this season and finished second in the Heisman voting as a result.
The quarterback completed 70.2 percent of his passes this season, throwing for 3,305 yards and an incredible 30 touchdowns. He was also picked off just eight times, good enough for a quarterback rating of 166.10.
Luck also averaged 8.6 yards per carry, rushing for 438 yards and three touchdowns.
He also proved he can tackle, just in case.
Colin Kaepernick
6 of 10
Colin Kaepernick gained a little bit of national recognition when he led his Nevada Wolfpack to an upset of Boise State, eliminating the Broncos from BCS consideration.
It was just the capstone on the incredible season he's having.
The dual-threat senior quarterback has improved in each of his four years, this time throwing for 2,830 yards and 20 touchdowns on 65.7 percent passing.
Kaepernick also ran 164 times for 1,184 yards and another 20 touchdowns.
Terrelle Pryor
7 of 10
Terrelle Pryor may not have lived up to his enormous potential yet, but he's still an incredibly exciting football player.
Whenever he's on the field, you can't take your eyes off him. He could run for a touchdown or throw a strike at any minute.
Ohio State's junior quarterback has had by far the best passing season of his career in 2010. Pryor has completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 2,551 yards and 25 touchdowns, all career-best numbers.
No. 2 has also run 120 times for 639 yards and four scores. He's even caught a touchdown pass this season—the second of his collegiate career.
Denard Robinson
8 of 10
Denard Robinson was the early favorite for the Heisman but fell out of the competition when the Michigan Wolverines started losing.
Shoelace, as he's affectionately called because he doesn't tie his shoes, is a threat to run or pass at any time. Just like in the picture, you never know which he's going to do.
The 2010 Big Ten MVP threw for 2,316 yards and 16 touchdowns in his first season as a starter while running 245 times for 1,643 yards and another 14 scores.
No player in the country is as exciting to watch.
Robert Griffin III
9 of 10
Robert Griffin III is probably the least well-known player on this list, but that doesn't make him any less exciting.
Baylor's quarterback can get it done on the ground and through the air and is the primary reason for the Bears' success this season.
Griffin completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,195 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also ran for 591 yards and another eight.
Make sure you watch the Texas Bowl this year so you can see him play against Illinois.
Patrick Peterson
10 of 10
A cornerback on a list of the most exciting players? That can't be right!
Trust me, it is.
Patrick Peterson has been one of the absolute most fun to watch players in college football this year as he's done it all on both defense and special teams.
The cornerback for LSU has made 36 tackles this year and picked off four passes, returning those interceptions for 134 yards.
In the return game, Peterson has returned 37 punts for 418 yards and two touchdowns. He's also taken back 29 kicks for 851 yards.
He's one of those players who makes you hold your breath when he gets the ball.
