The 2010-2011 college football bowl lineups are finally here and the Big Ten has once again placed a number of teams in bowls across the nation. There are some intriguing games lined up for the Big Ten this year including some SEC match ups. Will the Big Ten earn some respect this year or will they disappoint? The following slideshow is a prediction of these upcoming match ups.
#1-Rose Bowl- Wisconsin Vs. TCU
1 of 8
The 2011 Rose Bowl features an excellent match up between the Badgers and Horned Frogs. TCU has an excellent defense, however the powerful Badgers will continue their winning ways in this game.
Prediction: Wisconsin 28 TCU 21
#2 Sugar Bowl- Ohio State Vs. Arkansas
2 of 8
The Buckeyes finally earned a bow win last year in the Rose Bowl against the Oregon Ducks. The Buckeyes will not get it done this year against Mallet and the Hogs. Arkansas features a bruising running game and a talented group of receivers surrounded by a physical offensive line and talented quarterback. They also feature a solid defense with lots of speed. Sorry Bucks, The SEC wins again.
Prediction:
Arkansas 38
Ohio State-24
#3- Capital One Bowl-Alabama Vs. Michigan State
3 of 8
This will be a very good match up between the Big Ten and SEC. It is also ironic that Saban will be coaching against his former team. In the end, however, Alabama is still Alabama and Ingram and Jones will prove to be too much against the Spartans.
Prediction:
Alabama 38
Michigan State 34
#4- Insight Bowl-Iowa Vs. Missouri
4 of 8
Most Big Ten fans will agree that the 2010 Iowa Hawkeyes seemed to disappoint the most by the end of the season. Even though they dropped their last three games, Ricky Stanzi and company will do the Big Ten proud by defeating a 10-2 Missouri Tigers team.
Prediction:
Iowa 31
Missouri-23
#5 Outback Bowl- Penn State Vs. Florida
5 of 8
Fans have got to be wondering how the Gators even managed to get to this bowl. Even more interesting is the rumors once again that Urban Meyer might retire after the game. JoePa and company should have very little trouble stopping a hideous Florida offense.
Prediction
Penn State 28
Florida 17
#6- Gator Bowl- Michigan Vs. Mississippi St.
6 of 8
Many Michigan fans have commented that Mississippi State should be honored to play a program such as Michigan. The truth is that Michigan should be thankful to be in a bowl this year. On the other hand, the Bulldogs are 8-4 in the SEC barely losing to Auburn and Arkansas. Mississippi State will prove to be more of a challenge than the Ann Arbor faithful think and they are well coached. In the end, there is a strong possibility that Rich Rodriguez will be coaching his last game for the Wolverines. Even though there is a great amount of drama right now, a completely healthy Michigan offense should be able to outscore the Bulldogs.Michigan should hope that they do not need a field goal to win it because it will not happen if it comes down to that.
Prediction:
Michigan 47
Mississippi State 45.
# 7 Texas Bowl- Illinois Vs. Baylor
7 of 8
Look for the Baylor Bears to defeat Zook and his Illini in this one. Besides, it might as well be a home game for Baylor.
Prediction
Baylor 38
Illinois 34
# 8 TicketCity Bowl- Northwestern Vs. Texas Tech
8 of 8
This is a January 1, 2011 bowl? Yes it actually is and Northwestern has struggled since the loss of their quarterback. The Red Raiders will get it done in this New Year's Day Bowl.
Prediction
Texas Tech 34
Northwestern 21
