SEC Championship 2010 South Carolina vs. Auburn: Time To Eat My Words

Well played, Auburn.  Well played.

After watching the game (twice), I can now confirm that I was way off on my predictions. 

Way, way, way off.  In almost every imaginable way. 

I argued my points, and I kept it going.  I believed in my team.  As a fan, would you expect anything less?  Did you want me to come in and predict a loss for the biggest game in school history?  As much as my brain knew this would be difficult, my heart said we could get the win. 

Besides a couple of trolls, and they know who they are, Auburn fans have been very fun to argue with.  They have not been overly rude... they believed in their team as well, and rightfully so.  Only so often did a sarcastic "holier than thou" type appear... and as everyone knows sarcasm is the recourse of a weak mind. 

These are the same people that are going back to my stories just to gloat.  Win with some grace.  This is  not what Auburn fans did as a whole... just a couple. 

There are Carolina fans that would have done the same.

Anyway, I predicted a win.  35-28 to be exact.  Off... way off.  I based my prediction on the fact that Spurrier seemed to want this game more than any game he has ever wanted, and South Carolina was going in with some swagger. 

However, Cam Netwon is an unstoppable machine.  Period.  They will beat Oregon by double digits.  Easily.  However, everyone knows how spot on my picks have been lately.  (HA).

There was very little chance of South Carolina pulling off this upset.

Another claim that I made... South Carolina would be the bigger crowd.  Wrong again.  It was estimated at 60-40 Auburn, but to the naked eye, it was bigger than that.

Once again, I hope that South Carolina handled the loss with dignity, and I hope all of you Auburn fans enjoyed spending time with the folks from Carolina.  You guys have a hell of a team, and now, go give Oregon hell.

Now, to the old South Carolina adage, and a tongue in cheek warning to you... "wait 'till next year"!  We will see  you at Williams Brice on October 1st!
