FIFA World Cup: Dollars of Corruption Alive And Well With FIFA Announcement

This morning the corrupt heads of FIFA, after taking assumed millions of dollars in bribes awarded the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar.

There is really nothing wrong with giving the World Cup to Russia, they have a decent soccer team and participate in the bigger European soccer tournaments. Outside of a few major cities, what does Russia really have to offer FIFA?

Nothing really, except for a few million dollars in bribes.

But hey, Russia definitely deserved a shot and was the favorites to land the 2018 World Cup. They definitely held strong and got it done.

Qatar on the other hand is a joke.

This country has no real soccer history, no real history of any kind, except for being full of wealthy oil princes who like to throw their money around to show exactly how important they are there, but no really important enough globally.

They have definitely made that jump today.

Qatar is like a prettier death valley. Nice architecture, nice beaches, 55% of their air is carbon dioxide and the low temperatures during the World Cup will hover between 85-90, while day time highs around 120 degrees.

At least countries have 12 years to prepare for the heat and humidity, but Qatar will deliver probably the worst played World Cup in history. The climate is simply going to ruin players and ruin them fast. 

Did FIFA even consider this?

The US was far more deserving and had multiple petitions to get the World Cup there with Seattle as the host city.

Oh well, at least the precedent has been set and we can look forward to the 2026 World Cup taking place in North Korea, Pakistan or the Congo.
