Boise State Broncos: Why You Should Learn From TCU's Example
Boise State, are you tired of being in a Non-BCS Conference and not being considered for the BCS National Championship Game? Try learning from former fellow Non-BCSer Texas Christian University, who announced on Monday that they had accepted an offer to join the Big East Conference.
For the longest I can remember, people have been fussing about why the BCS exists and that there should be a change. Let's face it folks. If there hasn't been a change by now, they aren't going to change it at all. So you should get used to it. The money is what is controlling the ship that is the BCS and as long as that money and power exists, there is not going to be a change.
TCU realized this and took their talents from the Mountain West to the Big East. It opens up a slew of possibilities that are endless. First, the Big East now can recruit better in the Texas area, which might end up hindering the progress of the new Big 12 (10?) Conference.
Also, TCU can now recruit more successfully in high prospect areas in the Northeast, such as New Jersey, which tends to put out a lot of football talent. This could strengthen what has been a mediocre conference in the Big East since powerhouses Miami and Virginia Tech, along with Boston College, left the Big East back in 2004.
If I had advice for Boise State, it would be to find a BCS conference that is willing to accept you and bring you in. There are all sorts of opportunities to prove yourself. I think what might be holding them back is the fear that they may be a mediocre to sub-par team in any BCS conference and they will not know until they throw their name into a conference.
Of course, it would help if you beat Nevada too and make a better case for you to be in the National Championship Game.
