Ohio State vs. Michigan: The 2010 Game by the Numbers
The greatest rivalry in sports is about to be renewed, and the 2010 edition involves some fascinating numbers, a few of which are downright wacky. Take a moment to consider, calculate and chew on the following:
2,558: Days since TSUN last defeated Ohio State in football!
1,538: Rushing yards by quarterback Denard Robinsion...an amazing 967 more than Michigan's leading running back, Vincent Smith, who has rushed for 571 yards. Robinson is the first player in NCAA history to rush and pass for over 1,500 yards in the same season.
57-43-6: The all-time series record in favor of Michigan, whose fans forget that since 1951 the Buckeyes hold a 31-26-2 lead.
8-1: Jim Tressel's amazing record against the Wolverines, including six in a row.
65: Points the Michigan defense surrendered to Illinois this season...in a game they actually won 67-65!
445.2: Yards per game given up by the Wolverine defense.
33.5: Points per game allowed by UM (almost 20 per game more than the Silver Bullets).
15-20: RichRod's record at scUM since becoming head coach...including a 6-17 mark in Big Ten games.
4-13: Overall field goals made compared to attempted by Michigan's two kickers this season (a 31 percent success rate).
107: Yards needed by Boom Herron to reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark in 2010.
67: Yards rushing needed by Terrelle Pryor to become No. 1 all time in rushing yards gained among quarterbacks at Ohio State.
34: Big Ten titles won by Ohio State (with a chance for No. 35 on Saturday, which would be a record-tying sixth in a row).
25: Consecutive games in which DeVier Posey has caught at least one pass (no jokes here, please).
10: Number of games in which Boom Herron has scored at least one touchdown.
24: Buckeye seniors who will play their final game at Ohio Stadium Saturday.
42-8: Overall record for the senior class (with two games left in their careers).
133: Estimated number of times RichRod will use profanity on the sideline Saturday.
