5-Star Wide Receiver Sammy Watkins Commits To Clemson Over Miami, Michigan
On Monday 5-star receiver Sammy Wakins revealed what Clemson has known for almost a week now: The coveted prospect has committed to the Tigers.
Watkins is one of the best prospects from the state of Florida and a game-breaker at the receiver position that adds a ton of potential to Clemson's already stellar offensive recruiting class.
He's the complete package in terms of size and speed and a dangerous weapon in the return game as well. Wakins is a threat to take it the distance on any play and has the sixth gear you look for in elite prospects.
Clemson had long been considered the favorite to land Watkins, though Miami was a strong possibility and Michigan entered the mix late after a recent trip to Ann Arbor.
But the Tigers got their man, and now have six of the best offensive recruits in the nation set to join the team next season.
With 5-star running back Mike Bellamy, 5-star receiver Charone Peake, 4-star running back Marlin Lane, 4-star Tight End Eric MacLaine, and 4-star receiver Martavis Bryant all ranking in the top 10 at their position, the addition of Wakins is a scary thought.
Simply put, Clemson should be loaded with offensive talent in the years to come.
For Watkins, the decision appears to have been a easy one.
“I’m looking forward to playing with them, practicing with them, getting to know them better,” Watkins said. “I’m just waiting to get up there in August, June or July, whenever. I’m ready.”
Soon it will be time for the rest of the ACC to see if they're ready to field a defense against what could potentially develop into the best offense in the conference.
