Big East Week 12 Report Card: Bearcats Go Bananas on Rutgers

Tom EdringtonNov 22, 2010

While you're rubbing your eyes and wondering if that was the correct score in the Cincinnati-Rutgers game, these are the Big East weekend grades:

Cincinnati 69, Rutgers 38:

Was this the basketball score? Afraid not.

Highest scoring game in Big East history and you had to be rubbing your eyes and wondering if you were reading it correctly.

Isaiah Pead, five touchdowns, 213 yards rushing.

Zach Collaros, 366 yards passing.

Where were all those points when the Bearcats really needed them earlier in the season?

This was ridiculous and was a bash to Big East credibility.

So one thing's for sure, Rutgers is the worst of a mediocre conference.

Grades:   Cincinnati:  A- (Rutgers DID score 38)

Rutgers:    F (they did score 38)

Pittsburgh 17, South Florida 10:

The Panthers eliminated the Bulls from the conference title chase.

USF didn't have much of a chance offensively when quarterback B.J. Daniels showed up limping and wearing a brace on his right knee.

Daniels is mediocre with two good legs.

Still, some good defense by the Bulls kept this one close, but in the end, Pitt did just enough to win and stay atop the Big East.

Grades:   Pittsburgh:    B

              South Florida: C

West Virginia 17, Louisville 10:

Louisville continues to impress with the rebuilding process and kept this one close.

Still, West Virginia stayed in the title hunt and you have to wonder if the Mountaineers might have been thinking just a little ahead of themselves to the "backyard brawl" with Pittsburgh this weekend?

Grades:     West Virginia:  B

                 Louisville:        C+

Connecticut 23, Syracuse 6:

Talk about a bummer for Syracuse fans.

The Orange go win-less at home in the East East and undefeated on the road.

What's up with that Carrier Dome?

Maybe they should play outside somewhere.

Hand it to the Huskies, they've come on strong and are now one of three teams left in the title hunt with Pitt and West Virginia.

Grades:     UConn:    A

                Syracuse:  F

There you have it. See you on Thursday and we'll chow down on some pre-weekend turkey.
