College Football Upsets: Michigan Over Wisconsin and 5 Week 12 Shockers
The college football landscape always has at least one upset that shocks the college football world.
As the college football season winds down, teams are jockeying for position in the polls, bowl eligibility and downright respect. On any given Saturday a team can upset another team and in Week 12 there are five college football teams that will pull off upsets and some of them will shock the college football world.
All lines are taken from online sportsbook BetMania.
Mississippi St. (+3) Over Arkansas
1 of 5
The Arkansas Razorbacks take a trip to Starkville to take on the Mississippi St Bulldogs. The latest college football betting odds posted at BetMania have the Hogs as three point favorites.
The Razorbacks are playing very well of late and Ryan Mallett and that offense are putting up some nice numbers, but this is a tough spot for them to win. The Hogs will look past this game to the big meeting with LSU at home that could propel them into a BCS bowl game.
The Razorbacks are 0-4 ATS in their last four meetings in Mississippi State and the underdog is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 meetings.
Mississippi St has a distinct home field advantage that has taken down teams in the past and this week the No. 13 ranked Hogs get upset.
Mississippi St. (+3)
Miami (+2) Over Virginia Tech
2 of 5
The Hokies play much better ball later in the season and they look to continue their impressive run with a win over Miami. The latest college football betting odds posted at BetMania have the Hokies listed as two point road chalk.
True freshman Stephen Morris will start his third consecutive game in place of star quarterback Jacory Harris. He has played very well in his starts leading up to this game. Morris has completed 37 of 70 passes for 678 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s completed 28 of 48 for 516 yards in his two starts and won the Maryland game in the waning seconds.
The team has rallied around Morris and they will play inspired ball in this game.
The underdog is 7-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last nine meetings and the Hurricanes are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a home underdog.
The Canes pull off the home upset in this ACC Shocker.
Miami (+2)
Michigan (+4.5) Over Wisconsin
3 of 5
In a Big Ten battle, the Michigan Wolverines host the Wisconsin Badgers. The latest college football betting odds posted at BetMania have Wisconsin listed as 4.5 point road chalk.
The public is high on the Badgers after pasting Indiana and putting up 83 points, but that won’t happen in the Big House. The Wolverines need a big upset win to get back into the public eye in a positive light.
This win could save Rich Rodriguez as head coach of the Wolverines with Jim Harbaugh lurking in the shadows.
The Underdog is 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight meetings and the home team is 4-0-1 ATS in their last five meetings.
The Wolverines get the upset win as dangerous home conference pups.
Michigan (+4.5)
Texas A&M (+2) Over Nebraska
4 of 5
In a Big 12 battle, the Aggies of Texas A&M host the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The latest college football betting odds posted at BetMania have the Cornhuskers listed as two point road chalk.
The stadium will be rocking with the “12th man” as it was reported that 13,678 students pulled tickets during Monday's first opportunity which is a single-day school record. It will be interesting to see how they react to Nebraska coach Bo Pelini after he said, "Our fans are better than Aggie fans," at his weekly press conference.
The Aggies are on a winning streak and the Aggies surge could be credited to the change at quarterback. Converted wide receiver Ryan Tannehill is the new pigskin chucker for this team and the change has paid dividends. Tannehill has thrown for 1,109 yards and ten touchdowns in four games, completing nearly 70 percent of his passes.
The Aggies are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games against a team with a winning road record and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 home games.
The fans will be rocking and the team will respond by upsetting the No. 9 team in the country.
Texas A&M (+2)
Maryland (+3.5) Over Florida St.
5 of 5
Florida St travels to Marlyand to take on a tough Terps team in an ACC Clash. The latest college football betting odds posted at BetMania have the Seminoles listed as 3.5 point road chalk.
The Terps are undefeated at home this season posting a 5-0 mark and they will look to make it 6-0 with a season signature win against the Seminoles.
This could be the biggest game in the history of Maryland football and the fans and the players will be ready for a big game. The terps have a ball hawking defense that is surprisingly good at intercepting opposing quarterbacks. That is bad news for Florida St. heading into this game, as they have trouble covering the number as road chalk.
The Seminoles are 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 games as a road favorite, 2-9-2 ATS in their last 13 games as a road favorite of 3.5-10.0 and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference games.
The Terrapins are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as a home underdog and 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.
The Terps shock the college football world and Florida ST with a big win this week.
Maryland (+3)
