College Football Week 12: Top 10 Stars Who'll Make Biggest Heisman Move
College football Week 12 is upon us with tonight's game between Alabama and Georgia State kicking things off in the Top 25.
Heisman season is heating up, and while Cam Newton is the favorite right now, there's a group of players behind him looking to take advantage of any slip-up Newton may have in the Iron Bowl or the SEC Championship game.
With that in mind, here are 10 players who can make a serious push towards the trophy with a great game this weekend. Any thoughts? Leave them in the comments.
No. 10: Scott Tolzien
1 of 10
Scott Tolzien is coming off a three-touchdown performance in the utter domination of Indiana last week, and he's got a great opportunity to put a great performance together this week against Michigan.
Tolzien has thrown 12 touchdowns to five interceptions this year, and he's going against a Michigan defense that isn't exactly what you'd call stout. If Matt McGloin can have a big day against the Wolverines for Penn State, Tolzien will as well.
Look for the Wisconsin quarterback to have a big day.
No. 9: Denard Robinson
2 of 10
Michigan's struggles have really hidden what Denard Robinson has been doing under center for the Wolverines.
Robinson had a monster game against Penn State, and was killing Illinois before having to leave with an injury. He's kept Michigan in a lot of games, and it's not his fault that the Wolverines defense has been brutal this year.
I think Robinson will have a good game against a good Wisconsin team this week.
No. 8: Ryan Mallett
3 of 10
Ryan Mallett is having another good year under center for Arkansas, and he's coming off a five-touchdown performance against UTEP.
Mallett has thrown 29 touchdowns to 10 interceptions and he's been the reason the Razorbacks have been so successful this season. Sure, he struggled against Alabama, but he had a good game against Texas A&M, who is no slouch.
This week I think he's going to have another good game and impress some people.
No. 7: Ricky Stanzi
4 of 10
Ricky Stanzi and the Iowa Hawkeyes take on Ohio State in what is the biggest game of the season for the Hawkeyes.
Stanzi will need to have a big game to get the win for Iowa, and I think he's going to play well. He always seems to step up for the Hawkeyes when they need him. The quarterback has had a good year, throwing 22 touchdowns to only four interceptions.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
No. 6: Kendall Hunter
5 of 10
Kendall Hunter has been a workhorse for Oklahoma State this year and is the Cowboys' leading rusher this season.
Hunter has run for 1,356 yards and 16 touchdowns this year and will lead Oklahoma State into a game against Iowa State. Hunter will have a field day in this game, and he's going to get noticed with the Cowboys having success this year.
Look for the back to have a huge day for Oklahoma State and raise his profile.
No. 5: DeMarco Murray
6 of 10
DeMarco Murray does it all for Oklahoma, and he's going to do big things this week against Baylor in a big matchup.
Murray has 911 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Through the air, he has 374 yards and four touchdowns. Not bad considering some of the struggles the Sooners have had this season. The Bears are a good team, but not good enough to stop Murray.
Look for the back to have a huge day.
No. 4: Andrew Luck
7 of 10
The California defense might have been able to slow down the high-powered offense of the top-ranked Oregon Ducks, but I don't see that happening against Stanford.
Andrew Luck will lead the Cardinal into this game, and no amount of faked injuries will be able to stop the Cardinal quarterback from making plays down the field in the passing game. Luck has had a monster year for Stanford and I think the quarterback will win this game easily.
Look for Luck to have a huge game against the Golden Bears.
No. 3: Terrelle Pryor
8 of 10
Sure, Terrelle Pryor is likely already one of the favorites for next year's Heisman as he announced he is coming back to Ohio State next year.
Pryor and the Buckeyes are going to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes this week and it's going to be a tough test. I think the quarterback is going to have a big game against the Hawkeyes, and it's going to be a huge win if Pryor can help pull it out.
He's going to be the key to winning this game.
No. 2: Taylor Martinez
9 of 10
Taylor Martinez has been a one-man wrecking crew for Nebraska this year, and I see no reason that can't continue this week.
Martinez has thrown for 1,328 yards and nine touchdowns this year to four interceptions. Not only that, but he's run for 957 yards and 12 touchdowns. Martinez is a dual threat and one of the biggest offensive weapons in the country.
I expect him to have a huge game this weekend and keep the good times going for the Cornhuskers.
No. 1: Kellen Moore
10 of 10
Kellen Moore has had a fabulous year for Boise State and, while some people like to criticize the Broncos resume, there's no denying how good Moore has been.
The quarterback has thrown for 2,588 yards and 24 touchdowns this year, and has a big game on ESPN against Fresno State. If Moore can carve up the opposing defense the way he's been doing, on a national stage, it will give some people another look at one of the best quarterbacks in the nation.
You're going to see one heck of a player if you tune into that game.
