College Football 2010: What I Knew AND What I Thought I Knew
What I knew
~ I knew Arkansas was a top SEC team this year. The defense has been in question. Behind LSU and Auburn, Arkansas is the third or fourth best team in the SEC.
~ I knew Oregon State was a joke this year. I have been saying it all season, and it is true. They may be the seventh best team in the Pac-10 at best.
~ I knew Texas and Florida would not be anywhere near the teams they were without Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow respectively. For Texas, they just flat-out lost too many players. For the Gators, it was all Tebow. Now what?
~ I knew Oklahoma State was going to be a good team. And they are. I think they might just be the best team in the Big 12 (aside from my Sooners, of course
).
~ I knew Oklahoma would not play in the BCS NC game. I have to admit I never really saw this year's squad playing for a NC. I think youth is too deep, and we will be a much better team in 2011. Now in 2011...WATCH OUT!
What I thought I knew
~ I thought Georgia would win the SEC East. They will not.
~ I thought Nebraska would look as dominant as any team in the country. They have looked it at times, but then they look very average the next week. I think they are still the odds-on fave to win the Big 12 , but I thought they might just make a run at the BCS NC game. I do not see that happening now. Hell, my Sooners might end up winning the Big 12 over Nebraska.
~ I thought Arizona would win the Pac-10, not Oregon. I thought Oregon would be good, but I thought Arizona would be better. I think they are the third or fourth best team in the Pac-10, but I thought this was their year to get the conference championship. It is not.
~ I thought Wisconsin would be in the driver's seat for the Big Ten. I thought they had a chance of going undefeated. They are a good team, but not that good. They are about the third or fourth best team in the Big Ten. Very disappointing.
Still waiting to see
~ I knew that Terrelle Pryor would win the Heisman Trophy if he could win the Big Ten. With the recent surge of Cam "$200K" Newton, I am not sure what to think about the Heisman.
~ TCU is better than Boise State. I think the case is clear on this subject, but with the cupcake factory that BSU runs through, it is hard to know for sure. TCU has a much better schedule and (to me) looks like a much better football team. I thought the same thing last year though, and TCU coughed it up to BSU in the Fiesta Bowl, so I guess the jury is still out.
