BCS Rankings Week 11: 10 Most Likely BCS Championship Games
As we enter Week 11 of the 2010 college football season, there are still four undefeated teams remaining: Auburn, Oregon, Boise State and TCU.
All four teams have a legitimate shot at the BCS Championship game. But, there are still a few games remaining, and there are several one loss teams waiting for an unbeaten team to slip up.
Some of these powerful one loss teams include Stanford, Wisconsin, Ohio State, LSU, Nebraska and Michigan State.
So, with the latest rankings, here's a list of the 10 most likely BCS Championship game matchups.
Note: Remaining schedule will play a factor in the likelihood of each matchup.
10. Wisconsin Badgers Vs. Oregon Ducks
1 of 10
Wisconsin isn't going to win the Big Ten championship, but they'll finish the season as the highest ranked Big Ten team in the BCS standings. How confusing is that?
With no Big Ten championship game, Wisconsin can sit back once their season is over and hope for the teams ahead of them to slip up.
Note: Oregon is going to show up in most of these possible title games simply because I believe they'll win out easily and take one of the spots in the BCS Championship game.
9. LSU Tigers Vs. Oregon Ducks
2 of 10
Oregon is almost certainly going to be undefeated at the end of this season.
LSU has lost to Auburn, so they need Auburn to slip up twice, highly unlikely.
But, if LSU can somehow make it to the SEC Championship game, I like their chances against any team from the SEC East.
And we all know the SEC Champion usually earns a spot in the title game.
8. Oklahoma State Cowboys Vs. Oregon Ducks
3 of 10
This game would feature Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State vs. LaMichael James of Oregon, the best wide receiver in college football and the best running back in college football, respectively.
Oklahoma State still has to beat Oklahoma and probably Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship game, but that's very doable with the passing game the Cowboys display every week.
7. Nebraska Cornhuskers Vs. Oregon Ducks
4 of 10
Another potential Big 12 champion vs. Oregon matchup would feature Nebraska.
Taylor Martinez would give the Oregon defense all they could handle with his running speed and his improving passing game.
Nebraska also knows how to play a little defense. It would be interesting to see how they matchup against Oregon's offense.
6. Boise State Broncos Vs. TCU Horned Frogs
5 of 10
If this game was the BCS Championship Game, it would be a disaster. No one wants to see Boise State and TCU play each other, they want to see them play a major conference school.
When Boise State and TCU were matched up in the Fiesta Bowl last year, it was seen as a cop-out by the BCS. Here's hoping it doesn't happen again.
5. Boise State Broncos Vs. Auburn Tigers
6 of 10
Kellen Moore and Cam Newton will definitely be the top two quarterbacks in the Heisman Trophy voting.
How awesome would it be if they also played in the BCS Championship game against each other?
This game would feature high scores and exciting plays. Who wouldn't want to see a game like that?
4. Boise State Broncos Vs. Oregon Ducks
7 of 10
No matter how much Boise State wins by each week, they keep losing ground in the BCS standings. These guys can beat anyone in one game on a neutral field.
Last year, Boise State opened their season by beating Oregon.
While this year's Oregon team is better than last year's squad, it just proves that you can't sleep on the Broncos no matter who they're playing.
3. TCU Horned Frogs Vs. Auburn Tigers
8 of 10
This game would feature a great offense against a great defense.
TCU has shown they can hold teams scoreless at will, but they haven't played an offense like Auburn or Oregon yet.
So, while they definitely have a strong defense that isn't just a product of a weak schedule, they would certainly have all they could handle with an offense like Oregon's or Auburn's.
2. Oregon Ducks Vs. TCU Horned Frogs
9 of 10
Andy Dalton and TCU have become the favorite BCS buster, taking that title away from Boise State.
While I am a firm Boise State supporter, I certainly respect what TCU did to the Utah Utes on Saturday, completely dismantling them by a score of 47-7.
Plus, TCU and Oregon have easier remaining schedules than Auburn, which puts a lot of pressure on the Tigers.
1. Oregon Ducks Vs. Auburn Tigers
10 of 10
This is the most likely BCS Championship game. Oregon and Auburn are ranked first and second in the latest poll, respectively.
This game would feature the two most dynamic offenses in college football, with Oregon's blur offense and Cam Newton leading Auburn as a dual-threat QB.
Auburn has a game remaining against Alabama, but the Crimson Tide have shown they are vulnerable on the defensive side of the ball, most recently giving up 24 points in a loss to a horrible LSU offense.
