BCS Rankings Week 11: Who Would Win 10 BCS Title Games We Want To See?

Nathaniel UyNov 6, 2010

BCS Rankings Week 11.

The national title game is creeping up on us.  While the college football season is almost ready to head towards the finish line, we're starting to get a better look at which teams can still be viewed as contenders.

Are we going to get a Pac-10 versus SEC title game?  Or, have a surprise non-BCS team finally competing for the national championship?

And in what can be a big shocker, we could just end up with a TCU vs. Boise State BCS title game.

It's still possible so don't count out that potential matchup.

Meanwhile, here are 10 BCS title games we'd like to see.

10. Auburn Tigers vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers

In Nebraska's lone loss of the season to the Texas Longhorns, 'Huskers quarterback Taylor Martinez was limited.

While Auburn and Oregon are both high-scoring teams, Auburn stands a much better chance of holding down Taylor Martinez than Oregon.

Also in that Texas game, Longhorns quarterback Garrett Gilbert became a running threat, which is exactly what Cam Newton is.

The combination of a mobile Cam Newton and a defense that has shown maturity in the latter part of their schedule, Auburn stands a good shot at beating the Cornhuskers.

Prediction: Auburn

9. Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Oregon Ducks

Oregon may have the best offense in the country, but their defense has been far from impressive.

The Cornhuskers, on the other hand, have been solid on the defensive and offensive side all season.

Save the big letdown against Big 12 rivals, Texas Longhorns, Nebraska has shown an ability to stay and dominate games against their opponents.

With Taylor Martinez at quarterback, his versatility has given opponents fits.  He's likely to do the same against a weak Oregon defense.

While, Nebraska's defense is also capable of locking down Oregon.

Prediction: Nebraska

8. Oregon Ducks vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama is last year's national champion.  Even a one-loss season should not prevent them from making it to the national title match over an undefeated TCU or Boise State.

This mean's that they defeated Auburn in the Iron Bowl and also took the SEC championship.

With four SEC's teams in four years winning the national championship, this could be a passing of the torch.

When was the last time a team won two BCS national championships in a row?  Never since the BCS was implemented in 1998.

And nearly two decades since Nebraska won back-to-back national titles from 1994-1995.

Prediction: Oregon

7. TCU Horned Frogs vs. Auburn Tigers

It will be TCU's job and primary focus to slow down Cam Newton.  But his skills and versatility will be unlike anything they've faced this season.

Newton will be a tough matchup for anyone.

TCU literally locked down their Mountain West rivals Utah in a dominating win in Week 10, proving that they can step up against tough competition.

But Newton is not an easy quarterback to play against.  And TCU has seen a shortage of talent at the quarterback position all season.

Newton's mobility should give them plenty of fits.

Prediction: Auburn

6. Boise State Broncos vs. Auburn Tigers

With TCU overtaking Boise State in the BCS rankings, Boise State is starting to lose favor in the eyes of both coaches, media and the computers.

But this team has been used to playing the role of underdog.  Fact is, there is just too much experience on the Boise State squad.

And this is the year for them to breakout.  They have never been this close to a national title.  After years of being just on the outside, they will finally be in the big game.

This team has once again found themselves to be underrated just like last season when they defeated the favored Horned Frogs in the Fiesta Bowl.

They won't be favorites this year, if they make the title game.  However, this offense can score at will and their defense can zero-in on stopping Cam Newton.

Prediction: Boise State

5. Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Oregon Ducks

This will be a Rose Bowl rematch from last season.  Last year, the Buckeyes defeated the Ducks, easily, in that big bowl game, 26-17.

Terrelle Pryor had one of the best games of his college career in last season's Rose Bowl.  But this Oregon team is much better than last season's squad.

This year, the Ducks will want revenge for the loss.  With a national title on the line, they should be even more pumped up to play.

If this turns into a battle of who will score more points at the end of the game, this year's Oregon team should have the advantage.

Ohio State has already shown a weakness for a potent offensive attack by losing to Wisconsin this season.

Prediction: Oregon

4. TCU Horned Frogs vs. Oregon Ducks

TCU is a strong defensive team, while Oregon is an offensive powerhouse.

The Ducks boast the nation's best offense and have won handily in their first eight games by double digit margins.

While the Horned Frogs have held seven of their opponents to 10 points or less, in their first nine games.

The problem here is TCU has had a limited chance to showcase their defense against top-ranked teams.

But wait, in their Week 10 matchup against Mountain West rivals and BCS-ranked No. 5 team Utah Utes, TCU was pitching a shutout after one half of play.

The combination of TCU's well-balanced offense and their solid defense will give the Ducks plenty of trouble.

Prediction: TCU

3. Boise State Broncos vs. Oregon Ducks

This would be a west coast battle.  Not only is there a national title on the line but Boise State can distance themselves as a much better football program than Oregon if they manage to win.

While Oregon will have the pressure of having to take down their upstart non-BCS rivals, in this game, the Broncos will likely be the underdogs. But that's no reason to take them for granted.

This is a veteran group of teammates that have already played through one undefeated season last year.  They're on a mission to do it again.

Boise is capable of slowing down the game against Oregon and also producing timely scores with Kellen Moore as their quarterback.

Prediction: Boise State

2. Boise State Broncos vs. TCU Horned Frogs

This would be a miracle matchup if these two non-BCS contenders face each other.

Not only would this be a shocker for college football and an all-time first, this matchup also means that some of the country's best teams had monumental breakdowns at the tail end of their schedules.

It will be rematch of last season's bowl game, which Boise State won.

This year TCU's team has earned more maturity, but they are short a few elite defenders from last year's matchup—Hughes and Washington.

Despite losing that pair of top-defenders to the NFL draft last year, TCU still ranks among the best in the nation.

But when it comes down to it, there's a lot more experience on Boise State's side.  They are returning nearly all of their starters from last season's undefeated team.

Which non-BCS team could become the best football team in the country?

Prediction: Boise State

1. Oregon Ducks vs. Auburn Tigers

This will be a game between the Pac-10's best versus the SEC's best.

The Tigers have had a remarkable revival under Chizik, while the Ducks look even better this season than last year's Rose Bowl team under second-year head coach Chip Kelly.

Plus this game will also feature two of the top contenders for the Heisman trophy in Cam Newton and LaMichael James.

There should be plenty of scoring in this game.

But that's exactly how Oregon likes to play their football.

If this becomes a high-scoring affair, Oregon has the conditioning to run a lot and score a lot.

Darron Thomas and LaMichael James will be too potent of a combination to match up against one Cam Newton.

Prediction: Oregon
