College Football Week 10: 10 Underdogs Most Likely To Win Outright

Tom KinslowNov 5, 2010

Week 10 of college football is here and there's been plenty of upsets this year and I'm here to bring you 10 underdogs that have the best shot of winning this weekend.

No. 10: Duke

Duke is a a slight underdog to Virginia this week, who is coming off its first ACC win against Miami last week.

Now I've seen this Virginia team in person and the Cavaliers are not a very good team. New head coach Mike London will get this team to a respectable level and it's not like the Blue Devils are a much better team, but I think Duke can make a run at this.

No one wants to be at the bottom of the ACC.

No. 9: North Carolina

I'm going a little bold with this one, taking the Tar Heels to upset Florida State.

While the Seminoles want to forget their loss to NC State, this North Carolina team is better than its record, even with the injuries and the suspensions its gone through this year.

T.J. Yates will keep the Tar Heels hanging around in this game.

No. 8: Baylor

Baylor has had a dream season this year and the Bears are going to be tested by Oklahoma State this weekend.

If the Bears want to remain in the hunt for a trip to the Big 12 championship game, they have to win this game against a tough Cowboys team. However, this has been a magical run for Baylor and I wouldn't be shocked to see a win.

Keep an eye on this game this weekend.

The Maryland Terrapins take on the Miami Hurricanes this weekend and the Hurricanes are a team that is ripe for upset.

Jacory Harris is out for the next two games and without him last week, Miami looked awful. Although the Hurricanes rallied late, Virginia still pulled off the upset. We'll see how Miami responds without its quarterback but it could be a slow start.

The Terrapins have to get out to an early start to win this one.

No. 6: LSU

Les Miles has had two weeks to prepare for Alabama and there's a chance that his Tigers can pull this upset.

Miles has a good record after bye weeks and although he coaches in a manner that a lot of people think is reckless, it also works. Even though this is going to be a monster of an opponent, there's hope for Tigers fans.

It's one of the games you can't miss this weekend.

No. 5: Kansas State

Kansas State comes into a game against Texas, a matchup that looks better and better with each passing week.

Texas has had one of its worst seasons in recent memory, dropping games at home. Coach Mack Brown has called out his team a couple of times in the media. Losing Colt McCoy has been a bigger blow than expected.

Kansas State is a lot closer of an underdog than you'd think. Don't sleep on the Wildcats just yet.

No. 4: Illinois

Illinois have been flying under the radar in the Big Ten for some time now and it's Michigan's turn to take on the Fighting Illini.

The Wolverines collapsed down the stretch last year and I think they're primed to falter down the stretch as well. Michigan's defense looked awful against Penn State and I think Rich Rodriguez is going to end up without a job at the end of the year.

Don't sleep on Illinois.

No. 3: Utah

8 of 10
FORT WORTH, TX - NOVEMBER 14: David Reed #16 of the Utah Utes celebrates with Jereme Brooks #85 after making a touchdown pass reception in the second quarter of the game against the TCU Horned Frogs at Amon G. Carter Stadium on November 14, 2009 in Fort

Point Spread: +5

Utah got blown out of the water against TCU last year and don't think the Utes forgot that for a second.

Utah is hosting the Horned Frogs and it's the biggest game of the week in terms of BCS implications. This will likely determine who is the automatic qualifier for a BCS bowl game. It's going to be a big clash and a great game.

The Utes will be fired up for this one.

No. 2: Arizona

Arizona is taking on Stanford in a big Pac 10 clash; don't sleep on the Wildcats this week.

The Wildcats upset Iowa this year, who is also rolling. Nothing should surprise you this year in college football and while Stanford is a great team, there's no reason that Arizona can't sneak up and beat them this Saturday.

It's not the biggest game on the schedule, but it's a very intriguing one.

No. 1: Arkansas

10 of 10
AUBURN, AL - OCTOBER 16: Quarterback Ryan Mallett #15 of the Arkansas Razorbacks warms up before the game against the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium on October 16, 2010 in Auburn, Alabama. The Tigers beat the Razorbacks 65-43. (Photo by Mike Zarr

Point Spread: +4.5

Arkansas takes on South Carolina this week and I think it's a game that the Razorbacks can steal.

While the Gamecocks did beat Alabama to end the Crimson Tide's undefeated season, they also lost to Kentucky the week after. Ryan Mallett should be able to make plays down the field and open up that defense.

The SEC has a lot of good games this weekend and this is one of them.
