Cam Newton: Did the Missippi State Bulldogs Offer Him Money?

Matt RudnitskyNov 4, 2010

It has just been reported that Kenny Rogers, a man representing Auburn Tigers quarterback and Heisman Trophy front-runner Cam Newton, was requesting a staggering six-figure payout from Mississippi State in order for the Bulldogs to acquire the coveted junior college quarterback.

This is shocking news, as Newton has been lighting up college football with his eye-popping rushing and passing numbers (2,695 total yards, 29 total TDs).

Cecil Newton, Cam's father, denied that the family took the payout.

It's way too early to speculate, but this shows how low the world of college recruiting has sunk.

Everyone knew that agent payouts were happening, but after the Reggie Bush fallout, Josh Luchs's confession and now this, it is getting out of control.

Something needs to be done to address the issue of agents and college players, fast.

What do you think?

Should he have taken the money?

Would you blame him if he did?

What should be done about this issue?

Should athletes be allowed compensation?

Please discuss in the comments; I'd love to hear everyone's take on this heated issue.
