My 2010 World Football Team of The Year So Far: Feat. Messi, Ronaldo, Sneijder

Zaakir HoosenNov 5, 2010

Every player in the world in some way or the other is trying to reach the top of their game, form is of utmost importance, and is something that rates a player's current performance.

We are aware of the top ranked players in the world, the awards they received, the trophies both domestically and for their countries which they have won. But all these players on one team could either spell a total disaster or a fine mixture of brilliance.

At times we find the likes of Real Madrid attempting to bring together a squad of specialised players all with the same vision but different styles and approaches.

Nevertheless in this slide-show we preview 11 players who could formulate one of the most dangerous attacks while safeguarding their defense.

These are players who have performed well in recent months and could certainly go on to live up to expectations.

Goal-Keeper: Joe Hart

Hart is one of the up and coming keepers in World football, and already he has received praises from across the footballing spectrum.

Some would argue that in terms of the bigger picture, he comes second after Iker Cassilas in recent performances.

But looking at individual performances, Hart has been tested more often than Iker and has prevailed on almost every occasion.

At the same juncture, Cassilas has a much better defensive line, which is a major plus for the Spanish international.

Currently forth on the log, Hart and his teammates will look to continue building their way as they chase Chelsea, with many hoping they push right till the end.

Right-Back: Daniel Alves

Daniel Alves has turned into one of the World's top right backs, while he could be contested for that position by many other suitable players with amazing qualities and talents, in recent weeks Dani has been at the top of his game.

The big test for Alves will be when he faces league-rivals Real Madrid at the Camp Nou, in what is billed as one of the most anticipated El-Clasico clashes in recent years.

Vida has re-instated himself in the back-lines at Manchester United after some time on the side-lines with injuries.

He is also the team captain. This has seen him take a more sensible role when challenging for the ball, it hasn't made him less ruthless but rather allowing him to make better judgment before tackling opponents.

David Luis continues to impress, he has great physical aspect to his game and is very technical in his play. Luis recently was selected for the Brazil national team under new coach Mano Menezes.

He has a bright future ahead with some of Europe's big clubs already making attempts to lure the young Brazilian.

Left-Back: Ashley Cole

Ashley Cole has continued his excellent form from last season; he is instrumental in Chelsea's attack and defense.

His runs down the left flank is one of the key areas that lead into promising attacks and many goals.

Chelsea are currently at the top of their game; yes, they have lost some concentration but the winning spirit continues.

Central Mid: Andries Iniesta

With so many great names at Barcelona, its sometimes sad that Iniesta fails to get the praise for his efforts.

He is one of the World's best central midfielders, and right now has taken a more serious role with Xavi in and out with injury.

Iniesta forms one of the most potent attacks in World Football, but his calmness on the ball, control and elegance with which he plays is so sweet.

Central Mid: Wesley Sniejder

Sneijder has had a wonderful year thus far, winning everything at club level and then going on to the World Cup finals, although he finish as a runners-up, his contribution will always be remembered.

Now the former Madrid man is turning heads in Italy and he hopes to defend more than one title, and lead his team to yet another memorable season.

While there might be still a lot of time left for the season, one trophy he is chasing is the European Player of the Year, for which he is nominated.

Attacking Mid: Leo Messi

To be quite honest, I thought of leaving Messi out of this list for this one, but he just seems to be a reminder of how brilliant football can be.

He might not be at the top of his game, but even his average performances are at times far beyond that of others while they at their best.

Messi has continued to score and create goals and they chase Madrid for the title in Spain.

Right Mid: Angel Di Maria

Some would challenge this spot for that of Gareth Bale, but in terms of consistency at the highest level Angel Di Maria has brought an entire new dimension to Madrid's play.

He is one of the best buys of the season; his creativity and skill has already resulted in Madrid scoring a high number of goals.

Di Maria is part of a dream team at Madrid, but in every game his individual performances are highlighted and with all due respect to the other members of the team, he is the key player under Jose Mourinho.

Left Mid: Cristiano Ronaldo

There's no doubt that Ronaldo deserves a place on this list, he has turned up the heat in Spain and is looking to challenge his rivals all the way.

Scoring goals with ease in his last couple game, and seems hungrier than ever to go for more.

Striker: Carlos Tevez

Nationality: Argentinean

Club: Manchester City

Carlos Tevez has been the vital ingredient to City's rise since the start of the season, continuing from where he left off last season the former United man has come out guns blazing.

Now on the sidelines, his hoping to be fit and ready for the much anticipated Manchester Derby.

Tevez brings more than just the football aspect to the game, his hunger and passion both in attack and defense is what makes him amongst the top strikers in World Football.

Yes their might be others who have more quality, but in terms of form and performances, scoring goals in recent weeks, Carlos is No. 1.

Subs Bench

Every team requires possible substitutes, and this also gives me the opportunity to mention a few names that would of been in the team, but with so many talented individuals at the top of their game in recent months only a few can be selected.

Nevertheless the five subs are as follows:

GK: Julio Cesar

CD: Ricardo Carvalho

CD: Maicon

MID: Gareth Bale

ST: Javier Hernandez

Many would kick up a fuss at the above selections but all with good reason I assume. The reason for Bale not making the starting eleven is while he has showcased two of the most memorable European performances he hasn't shown consistency in the league.

Yes, he is a great talent and we wish and hope for many more similar performances but his definitely worth a mention.

Maicon, on the other side has been whip lashed by Bale in both ties of their group encounters, but continues to perform well in the Serie A.

Hernandez has proved his worth by scoring in the Champions League, English Cup and the League in the pass couple weeks.

Carvalho and Cesar have both been key to their teams' defensive success in recent months.
